Default The Children (1980) coming from Vinegar

https://vinegarsyndrome.com/shop/the...ren-slipcover/

Quote:
Something is terrifyingly wrong with the children of Ravenback. After their school bus passes through a mysterious cloud of yellow smoke, the children are are transformed into bloodthirsty zombies with black fingernails which burn anything they touch. As parents and unwitting townspeople are burned to a crisp, the local police force frantically searches for the missing kids, unaware of their new and deadly powers…

Shot back to back with FRIDAY THE 13TH, and sharing some of the same crew, Max Kalmanowicz’s THE CHILDREN is an outrageous and fun drive-in horror classic. Featuring an eerie score from Harry Manfredini (FRIDAY THE 13TH) and produced by Carlton Albright (LUTHER THE GEEK), Vinegar Syndrome brings THE CHILDREN to Blu-ray, newly restored from the best surviving film elements and in its extended director’s cut!

This is a solid little killer kid thriller. Of course, this site gives it a 1 rating, but Mausoleum gets a 3.5? SMH. The Children, which was filmed alongside Friday the 13th, has some shocking moments and a creepy score. Yes, it's a little amateurish, but it's very effective.

Mausoleum, while entertaining and featuring ok demon makeup, is the lesser of the two movies.

Made my order early this morning/last night, so happy this finally got released after I've made mention of it to VS a bunch of times. Watch it with Mutant for a nice double bill.

Man, I haven’t seen this film since it first came out. Don’t hug the children!

The tv ads for this scared the crap out of me in 1980.

Wow, that takes me back. I was in college in NY the year this musical was running off-off-off Broadway, and one of my friends became semi-obsessed with it, sort of convinced it would be the next "Little Shop of Horrors". She got a whole bunch of us to come out and see the show before it closed; I enjoyed it, but I also didn't understand why she was so into it.

I just placed an order. Stock is getting low. From 3,000 copies to just 480 remaining. I see this one selling out soon.

I wasn't going to get this but watched it a bit on you tube and I was hooked. I dont remember it from back in the day...missed it somehow. It has a creepy vibe to it...benefits from the time period it was filmed and its low budget in this case helps instead of detracts.
