Yeah, I've seen them advertised for a long time now. I could see them being convenient if you have a large room with lots of big windows, or a fancy formal area where you want things to look nice and flush. Easier to just have automatic ones then than to having to walk around the room pulling strings (which can sometimes tangle up) to raise heavy blinds.

If you have a control system, it can automate the raising of the blinds as soon as a movie is over or dropping them as soon as the projector is turned on. It simply makes the experience that much better. I thought something along the same lines when I first heard about motorized recline in chairs until I realized it was far superior to the old manual systems. |

Jut for the living room, family room, kitchen, and dining room, it would cost about $3,000. Scratch that "cool guy" idea. |

I don't see an issue with this, sure its not going to be as used a tv remote, but it helps specially in odd window placements and in farther or harder to reach treatments.
TBH IDK why you created this thread in 2015 though ![]() |

like others have said this is nothing new and has existed for ages. As for laziness I think it would depend on several factors. For example what would you do with a living room with two sky lights that are around 16' high at the top and 8 windows on the wall? directing the light in the room (making sure the plants get the light they need while the shades block the light from the furniture, would be an extremely time consuming endeavour that would need tweaking throughout the day as the sun moves through the sky. It would also be much harder to have all the blinds look perfectly the same manually. What about a solarium that has even more windows and blinds? It is not al the cases where there I only one window and you don't really care for the most part if the blind is open or closed. |
