Default Newbie Question About My New Sony HDTV

First let me say again that I am an ultra-newb. Second, I tried posting this question in the home theater section of the forums but was denied so I am posting it here.

Now, I just bought a new Sony KDL 46W3000 TV. I've been having problems with it dimming the picture on me. It only happens if the movie or video game I'm playing takes place in a dark room or in space or something like that. But it brightens up again whenever the image on the screen brightens up. I already turned off the power saving and light sensor options and I'm still having problems with it. I'm very close to calling it in to the place I bought it at, but am very convinced that it is simply an option I can turn on or off, but can't find. So I posted my question here in hopes that someone can help me. I thought it might help if I told you that I have a ps3 connected via hdmi, so there. Please help. I don't wanna take it in.
