Talking Spiderman Trilogy...

Anyone think that the trilogy did not look as "awesome" as blu-ray.coms review thought it was.There seemed to be a lot of loss of dark black areas in some scenes, and a lot of "out of focus" moments...all in all I gave it a 3 out of 5 for video quality... Anyone else agree?!

My brother popped in the S2 disc to show his wife the difference between the DVD and it only looked a little better...I was kind of disappointed. I think S3 looks great, but I was expecting WOW! I think it's my setup though...when I get my new TV I'm sure it'll look better.

I'm pretty sure that anybody who finds the PQ of Spiderman 2 to be poor is fu*ked in the head, or needs to properly calibrate their setup. Haven't watched the first, but I didn't find anything wrong with SM2.

I've seen better quality blu-rays, including catalog titles, but it's not horrible either. So somewhere in 3-4/5 is about right. I think Fantastic Four 2 looks better than Spidey 3. Still alot better than dvd though.

SM2 is pretty good looking, though I haven't watched the whole movie on BD just yet. I watched the first Spider-Man on BD, I did spot some strong uses of edge enhancement in several scenes.

Overall, Spider-Man looked pretty good. I would rate it between 3 to 4 depending on the scene. A little soft in some scenes. Though I've always found the CGI model of Spider-Man to be too rubbery. Even in the newest one. It's not an easy task to achieve realism in CGI human models.

after watching SP1 i didnt bother watching 2or3 yet, i might give it a try in a couple hours though im hoping 2 shows a noticeable improvement.

i think spiderman1&2 were probably just rushed out to make a BluRay Trilogy to entice buyers yada yada yada hence they aren't sold individually

If you think Spidey looked that bad I think you need to go over your equipment.

Watched all 3 movies in a row the other weekend and they all looked and sounded incredible. The first one was a tad soft but besides that they looked crisp and beautiful.

Personaly I chose a rearprojection SXRD screen instead of an LCD due to better picturequality on the SXRD. I would immediately point the finger at your screen if you have problems with black areas. Take your Spidey disc to a Fry's and ask to see it on an SXRD or high-priced LCD/FullHD plasma and compare.

Just watched Spidey2.1 (well like 1.5hrs) its great much better then 1 but i think they could probably make it look better.

there's some white artifacting throughout really hard to see but i was being very critical and noticed it pop up here and there, they kinda looked liked pieces of hairs but white, notice it more in the first 30mins, probably wouldn't notice it at all if i wasnt being so anal. Picture is much better then the 1st hopefully the 3rd will be better

I agree that Silver Surfer looks better than SM3. SM3 looks good, but I expected it to look truly outstanding. It doesn't.

I agree. All the reviews said "1" was the worst of the bunch. Yes there's some slight grain and the contrast is bumped up a little too much but still it's the best I've ever seen and heard Spider-Man so I was pretty impressed.

SM1 = 3/5 (decent upgrade from DVD)
SM2 = 4/5 (definate improvement from DVD)
SM3 = 5/5 (reference quality)

I'd say SM3 is more like 4/5. I haven't watched the other two yet.

I had the same question yesterday but I worded it very poorly and got rather an angry reaction - and justly so.

I'm noticing what may be a trend. RobertB states all 3 movies look incredible no difference from one to the other. Xerious, I believe, is experiencing the same thing I am. Spiderman 3 is excellent overall. 1 & 2 (though fine and a definite upgrade from a regular dvd) is not up to what we're seeing with 3.

This seems to be happening a lot, a truly divided trend. Could there be a problem with those sent to North America vs.. the European market? Just a question. I personally have no idea why we are seeing this. And where could we get an answer?

A number of members have stated a tweaking of our systems but I've put 3 in and gone back to 2 checking out different sections of the two films and if it were my system was messed up then both should look the same. Right?

I am so happy to see so many of you using sony's sxrd HDTV's. I use one myself and i believe they are one of the best. My set up: 50"sxrd...Sony bdp-s1 blu-ray player...onkyo TX-sr805 receiver...Bose acoustimass 16 , 6.1 system...def

Actually, I mentioned that to a friend of mine who worked on Spidey 1 and 2's VFX

He says that the human brain knows what is possible and what is impossible, so a 70% realistic model doing something "possible", is going to look just as good as a 95% realistic model doing something impossible

A lot of the CG you don't even know is cg. For example when Tobey crawls up the wall for the first time, it only looks CG in a few places, but it's 100% CG.
