Default Sales Prediction Thread At AVS

I've never noticed it before (do not go there much) and was surprised at the predictions for this week.

Almost half are saying 45:55 in favor of HDDVD. Do they just not get it or what. I could understand a poll here being biased, but to me that shows AVS IS HDDVD biased whether they want to claim it or not.

Maybe they should do away with the BD section and call their insiders thread the "HD-DVD Insiders Thread". All I see in it are HD-DVD insiders answering BD questions.

HD DUD winning this week is a popular theory.

I can see why. They had a bogo which the dud-ers have been begging for. They had plenty of good new discs to choose from like Bourne and the Harry Potters and stuff. And they mobilized and organized to buy this week in yet another attempt to take a week.

It could happen.

If it does it will just be that much harder for them when the entire goes down the tubes next year.

Yeah I forgot about the BOGO. I think if BD holds the week, it says even more.

HDDVD has an equal release in Potter along with a great release in Bourne. That coupled with a BOGO should give them a good run. I for one was scheduled to buy Bourne this week but put it on hold to buy Warner discs.

I was short on cash but was able to support Blu Warner with three titles, Omega Man, Blood Diamond and Wyatt Earp. I just had to make sure that I would cancel out some of DUD's sales by doing something.

Hello, Highschool Musical 2 (most watched Cable TV show ever), Lost Season 3, etc... plus we had a couple of small BOGOs. Oh and don't forget all the people who didn't have Pirates3 yet... And didn't that Panasonic free player deal start last Friday?

I'd say, release-wise, it's the most even week ever. Great. Way more blu players out there though!

I voted 61:39 at AVS and while my guess may not be accurate I would be absolutely shocked if HD DVD won the week. I think the extra HP's sold on BD will help absorb the sales of Bourne Ult.

he says they wont win so if they do he can go loopyloo on us. Seen it on avf too, crap predictions that fly against what that poster truly thinks will happen, all so they can gloat. Never happened there though, in fact mostly totally wrong. Lets hope the same happens again

Everyone keeps forgetting that Best Buy had a BOGO for BD only last week and that Amazon BOGOs don't really do that much for swaying the ratio on the Neilsen rankings. The BOGOs at best buy are much more likely to do that since most people buy movies at Best Buy. Also, the beginning part of the week had a BOGO at Amazon for BD. More stores had more copies of the Harry Potter movies stocked than Bourne, so I am sure that Potter will sell more than Bourne. I do agree that it may be close, but don't see HD DVD coming close to winning, although, anything higher than 35% is considered a win for them.

just noticed that? why do you think the real numbers are not allowed but the fake prediction numbers are allowed. Someone going there and does not know better will see the 45:55 and might get conned into thinking these are realistic predictions and they should get an HD DVD player.
