Warner Bros Smallfoot 3D Blu-ray (2018) [Region Free]

From a story by Sergio Pablos.

Quote:
An animated adventure for all ages, with original music and an all-star cast, “Smallfoot” turns the Bigfoot legend upside down when a bright young Yeti finds something he thought didn’t exist—a human. News of this “Smallfoot” throws the simple Yeti community into an uproar over what else might be out there in the big world beyond their snowy village, in an all new story about friendship, courage and the joy of discovery. “Smallfoot” stars Channing Tatum (“The LEGO® Batman Movie,” the “Jump Street” films) as the Yeti, Migo, and James Corden (“Trolls,” “The Emoji Movie”) as the Smallfoot, Percy. Also starring are Zendaya (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”), Common (“Selma”), LeBron James (upcoming “Space Jam 2”), Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin”), Danny DeVito (“The Lorax”), Yara Shahidi (TV’s “Black-ish”), Ely Henry (TV’s “Justice League Action”), and Jimmy Tatro (“22 Jump Street”). “Smallfoot” is directed by Karey Kirkpatrick, Annie Award-winning director of “Over the Hedge” and Annie nominee for the screenplays for “Chicken Run” and “James and the Giant Peach.” The film is produced by Bonne Radford (“Curious George”), Glenn Ficarra (“Storks,” “This is Us”) and John Requa (“Storks,” “This is Us”). Serving as executive producers are Nicholas Stoller, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Jared Stern, Sergio Pablos, and Kirkpatrick. The creative team includes editor Peter Ettinger, and composer Heitor Pereira. The film is set to debut in theaters September 28, 2018. From Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Animation Group, “Smallfoot” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Always good to see a film listed as a Real D 3D release right from the first teaser trailer, especially these days.

Funny how animated movies of similar subject matter tend to show up close together (though often wildly different in the final analysis). In this case animated 'bigfoot' type movies. (The other one being the NWave's Son of Bigfoot.)

Not exactly news, but I thought this might as well have its own thread.

I saw a preview for this when I went and saw Coco in 3D. Looks like it will be a good movie. It's definitely on my "to see" list.

Looks interesting. Warner Brothers Animation, that's good to see them offer films alongside Pixar, Dreamworks, etc.

Good to see the 3D info, yes.

I will happily add this to my collection.

Now we can only hope the 3D home release doesn't "disappear" never to be seen again ( as in Ferdinand and Trolls....and......)

I saw this the other day. The 3D has nice depth. I would say it's mostly mildish 3D. The story and characters are OK. 3/5 overall for me.

Thanks for the info on the 3D. The movie is a funny concept of reversing roles of Bigfoot and humans, but reminds me of a similar themed animated film recently. Trying to remember what it was.

Looks like typical kids fare to me along with bog standard character designs imo.

Thanks for the suggestion, Dartfrog.
Son of Bigfoot with the son learning to accept who he is and use his abilities to his advantage is a good theme story also with bigfoot, but I'm also thinking of a movie where the roles were reversed, where the human ends up on an alien planet and is treated like an alien or something like that. I'm pretty sure I have it on video somewhere from years ago. There was a weird character who ruled the planet from inside a long armed machine and I'm picturing purple blob alien resident characters or something that were being sacrificed somehow by the robot guy. I'll have to sort through my collection to see if that was it. No big deal.

I don't think it was Mars Needs Moms 3D or Escape from Planet Earth 3D. I only watched those once so far.

I hear what you're saying. The concept made me laugh watching that first trailer again, but beyond that, the story seems too familiar for me to visit the theater, and the style of the character designs is not my preference, but it depends on the audience as with many things.

I prefer the visual design of an animated movie like Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse compared to this more cartoony character style, which reminds me a bit of what they did the Trolls movie characters.

Me and my wife also went and saw this on Saturday and I have to agree with the mostly mild 3D. It was entertaining enough that if it receives a 3D blu ray I'll be purchasing it.

Our local theater only had 2 3D showings per day so we figured better go see it the opening week before there's no 3D showings.

I didn't see it in 3D but in regards to the story I thought it a tad more than okay - I'd post my rating at 3.5

I really dug the songs and the sound mix in 7.1 was a ton of fun

Thanks Reewinder. That's good to hear you enjoyed it. Hopefully it receives a blu ray 3D, but disappointing they didn't push the 3D.

a little bit of misinformation needs to be corrected here, the film was animated by Sony Pictures Imageworks not Warner Animation Group
