Default Sweet... (Blu-ray & Sam's Club)

Was strolling through Sam's Club this morning to pick up a few things, and I noticed something new. Nice, huge, main aisle end cap for a Blu-ray display. The video they were running was pretty eye catching too.

Then I looked over on the movie aisle, saw a decent collection of the Blu-ray, but what I thought was interesting was that they hadn't polluted it with HD DVD. There was a small end cap in the TV section that had Transformers playing, but I couldn't find any movie section or anything else about it.

Anyway, I ended up getting Polar Express because they had it for the same price as Amazon. Gotta wait to see what I get for Christmas, then I'll go back for more.

I've seen a similar setup at my local Sam's Club. It's a Sony promotion (part of their "HDNA" promotional campaign), so don't get too excited about its presence just yet.

The HDNA thing is a sony promotion but the almost exclusive Blu Ray support in the movie ailse is a Sam's thing.

The same setup is present at my sam's club in new orleans. They have about 6 columns of BR and a couple of copies of transformers, no other HD DVDs.

Sam's Club in Rochester, MN (9th highest Income per Capita city in the US) is similar.

My sams had that many blu-rays before the promotion started. Sure, now there is a big display, but the blu-rays have always been there.
