Looks like WBShop has put up a listing for Beware the Batman on Blu-Ray. It looks like it may be a Warner Archive release - I received a "made to order" discount on shipping.
I was pointed to the listing via TvShowsonDVD.com - http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Bew...1-Part-1/19407 Here's the WBShop product page: http://www.wbshop.com/product/beware...e=&from=Search |

I'm also curious. I will buy anything DC Animated right now, but this is one thing I might make an exception of. I thought the art style was awful... Reminded me a lot of that recent TMNT TV series which is not something I want to be reminded of.

Still, the show works for me. Anyone not liking what they've seen of the art style isn't going to like it any better in the series. Animation-wise, I thought the fight scenes were great. But, the CG environments are on the simplistic side, similar to the Green Lantern series that came before this one. It may have worked a little better in GL since, for the most part, they were dealing with space environments. Like GL, the writing and voice acting can overcome the look. But, I am not necessarily turned off to the look of this show or the GL show even though I will never prefer CG animation. |

Also you're right, It definitely appears to be a Warner Archive title. If you bring up the list of available BD titles from the Archive, it shows up there. I'm thinking this was more of a last-minute decision, as they really did plan to only release this on DVD for months now. http://www.wbshop.com/category/wbsho...scs.do?nType=2 |

Yeah from what I saw the show was pretty decent. It's a bit more geared towards older kids/adults I would say especially in comparison to the last Batman series Warner did (Batman: The Brave and the Bold). Not sure what the show's future is, I know a few months back it sounded like it was in danger of being cancelled but not sure if that's been changed or not. The season one, part one label has me optimistic that it's still got a chance since it isn't labeled the complete series or anything.

More episodes have supposedly been produced (Cartoon Network had ordered 26 episodes), but it does sound like that will be it. When CN will air the last 13 is still unknown.

There are only 11 episodes aired to date, and then it was put on hiatus from the Cartoon network. As of now, this includes 2 episodes that haven't been aired yet. Who knows if it'll truly be continued, and furthermore whether there will even be another BD release.

I was expecting to hate this show, but I thought it got stronger with each episode. As stated earlier, this is not a "kiddie" show and does have an overarching plot along with the stand alone episodes.
I thought the portrayal of Batman was great, the new take on Alfred is very cool, and it's refreshing to have Katana as a sidekick rather than Robin. I thought I'd miss the A list villains, but it's fun seeing the B listers get some air time -- Grant Morrison's Professor Pyg is damn creepy, Magpie and Lady Shiva were well done, and Anarky is filling in well for the Joker in most respects.... I think once Katana joins forces with Batman the show really takes off. |

However, considering that this show is completely up in the air, it's safe to call this the complete first season (for now). |

It all boils down to personal opinion, but I'm a huge Batman fan (started reading the comics around 1975) and I really ended up liking this show, as it put just enough of a twist on things to keep the plots interesting yet not straying from what makes Batman the Batman! (another example is Batman and Lt Gordon are at odds, not friends yet...but his daughter Barbara is a big Batman fan....) |

Cartoon Network did the same thing with Young Justice/Green Lantern. Out of nowhere, they were yanked off the air. Then, they finished them the following year. |
