I got a Xbox One for Christmas and finally got around to getting myself DOA 5 this morning.

However, I can't find an online ranked match?

Does nobody play it online?

My NAT setting are 'Open'.

Turns out it was a temporary problem at Microsofts end.

Saying that, it takes ages to get a game and 9/10 times it's a lag fest.

Very disappointing.

Yeah, honestly you're better off picking up Mortal Kombat X, or at the very least Xbox One Gold Members can download Killer Instinct Season 1 Ultra for free right now through the end of the month.

Both are decent fighters and it's fairly easy to find an online match.

I play the PS3 versions of both Ultimate which is now Last Round and also play the actual Last Round version and while Ranked Matches do sometimes take a few minutes to get someone, but there's always someone playing unlike when I try to get someone on the vanilla version or Plus with those ridiculous online trophies that I think people just gave up on those versions. (I kind of gave up on those versions too because of that)

Lag depends on who I am up against. Most people have good connection or at least ok connection, but once in awhile you get someone who has probably the worst internet connection and shouldn't even play online until they get their internet fixed.

Mostly people play on the Player Matches, but sometimes their "socializing" on there can get annoying. But when playing the vanilla version or Plus, you're going to be screwed since people only play Ultimate and Last Round for the new characters, new features and just that it's the latest and greatest.

On DOA4 I got to an A+ and was pretty good.

However on this game even people who are E seem far to good for the grade? I've only played about 20 games online but I'm still E-!

There's a few moves I instinctively tried to carry over from 4 that are no longer there but in general the characters from 4 have the same moves so I don't get it. Strange.

I'm really disappointed at the online experience because I think DOA is an excellent fighting game.

Yeah the online is a wasteland on PS4. Of the few people that play it they seem to be mostly Japanese who lock their games to local players. Have not even been able to get the basic trophy for fighting an online challenge because I never get a challenger. But none of the DOA5 releases were all that active so not surprised by it. Actually I don't find any fighter ever seems to have all that big of a community since a lot of people find online trash in fighting games including myself. Fighters are still the one genre made for local multiplayer. Wish they would have kept cross platform play in Last Round so I could just play myself like I did with DOA+ and Ultimate to knock out a few trophies
