Nice. I knew this one was around the corner. Thought it might have been a Presents title, but it doesn't appear to be.

Day One! One of the most fun times I've ever had in a theater was seeing this in a packed out Friday night crowd of mostly black people on opening night, Nov. 1989. It was a hilarious experience.

What a cast. Legends all over the place.

I am a bit surprised this didn't get a PP release, but hopefully the HD master looks good which is pretty random with a lot of Paramount titles.

Love this movie. Kinda surprised this isn’t getting a PP release but i’m just happy we’re finally getting it.

It's damn funny. I think it's one of his better films, in fact. He never was making art house movies, LOL. As 80s Eddie Murphy comedies go, this one was one of the better ones, to me.

He started 'going downhill', for me, when he just started making those Disney-like kiddie films all the time.

He came back big time in "Dolemite is My Name" a couple of years ago. That was such a pleasant surprise of a movie. I found it hysterical, and I was genuinely touched by it. Not since "Ed Wood" had a movie so reminded me how admirable it is for anyone to just make ANY movie.

As for "Harlem Nights", it's not just Eddie, it's a cast of absolute legends. It is to 70s-80s urban comedies what "The Expendables" was to 80s action flicks.

A comedies main job is to make people laugh.

I mean, this was Eddie's most serious role at The time. Others kind of carry the comedy, but I think Eddie wrote this? It was designed to give Pryor, Reese and Foxx the floor in terms of comedy.

Yeah, that’s a head scratcher to me. He probably has bad luck with kids.
