Question Movies you never even watched on DVD. Part 1 the Big Move to Cable TV to 4k.

Thought this might be a thread worth making.

I recently have found movies for years (way to many) I put off buying on even the first of the current 3 physical media forms, not even DVD watches have been made by me on the following - and its time to jump in.

Back to the Future trilogy - WTF? Where have I been. Many leaps have been made obviously and correct my title I never even saw these in HD cable, but early 00's many times, and of course VHS. Now as my own disclaimer I do own these as of last year on DVD (Still cannot remember the purchase) but did not watch them - but today thought I would, but instead I'll be buying the ultimate trilogy on 4k. Which I'm glad comes with the blu rays, more for fun.

Planet of the Apes films up to the remake. I have never seen an Apes film on DVD or Blu Ray except Burtons, and of course the newest trilogy. I plan to change that with the collection (I think its like a 50 year 9 movie collection)

2001 : A Space Oddyssey - again another popular film that I only watched on TV which I'm sure was dubbed down that would have been in my High School years 2004-2008, and I'm almost positive it was not an HD verison.

So...yeah I admit I've maybe missed out, 2001 and BTTF movies are all highly regarded on 4k so this shall be fun, and Apes might be funny (the sequels with well, a certain charm).

Anyone else have movies they've skipped multiple times on physical media or even digital?

Thanks!

The only time I had seen Apocalypse Now was on DVD on a tube TV, recently saw the 4K UHD and it was like watching an entirely different movie, was blown away.

I can only imagine - Also makes me think about being obsessed with Back to the Future in the 90s as a 8 or 9 year old thinking the car looked cool, now in 4k its gonna look way, cooler lol. How things have changed with technology.

Pretty much every one of the roughly 600 movies I own. Never had much of a collection before.

RAD is probably one of the more noteworthy examples. It's had cult fanfare and inspired so many kids to take up bmx and probably also skateboarding even though it's a bmx movie. No dvd and it seemed like it would never get a physical release better than the LD which might've been using the VHS master at that time. Hopefully the blu at least stays in print for a while, though a 4k re-release from someone like MVD would be appreciated as well.

FWIW, the 50 Years Planet of The Apes Collection only contains the latest trilogy in 4K. The original series of films are the same old Blu-rays re-released many times over the past 15 years.

Edit: Regarding the topic of the thread, while I haven't skipped purchasing very many titles over the years, there have been a few well know titles that I have not watched even once yet and only recently purchased in 4K, specifically The Warriors and Carlito's Way. Can you dig it? (I am at least familiar with one scene) Similarly, I only recently watched Dressed To Kill (another De Palma flick) for the first time in the Kino 4K.

You're missing out lots of T&A and Serena Grandi.

Not that Delirium. (le Foto di Gioia) Although I also owned that on dvd for several years and never watched. Not too long ago I watched the Ronin Flix version of that.
It was an anchor bay dvd and now Vinegar Syndrome has a Blu-ray version (which also seems to have lots of T & A )
Sorry I don’t know how to post pics of the dvds and blus. It would been easier to show than explain.

Oh, the 1988, one. Yeah, there's 5 of these with the same title.

Yeah I figured - I just have not seen but Burton's Remake on DvD and the latest 3 on Blu Ray. I think what I need to do is buy an older blu ray box set of the older films, the single Burton Blu, and upgrade the Reeves Trilogy to 4k.
