I just got this set and last night I watched Terror of the Tongs. What a fun movie! People were getting killed right and left and the girls were mighty fine. They danced in go go outfits and walked around with no pants on. The aura of exotica hung low over the whole picture. It wasn't a high budget film, it looked like it was all shot on five sets, but the art direction and color was great. I think I recognize Christopher Lee's lair as being a hotel lobby in one of the Hammer Mummy pictures. The best part of the picture was the "cultural appropriation". It was amazing to see how poorly so many British actors were at pulling off playing an Asian person Christopher Lee did the best because he didn't even attempt an accent, but some of the other characters were real doozies.
I bought this set without much enthusiasm. I'm normally more interested in Hammer for their horror titles. But this movie won me over. If I had seen this as a teenager, I would have been like a pig in mud. Looking forward to the rest of the set. Last edited by BigNickUK; 08-05-2018 at 09:09 AM. |
