So I'm looking at Amazon and other sites at upcoming new releases for blu-ray and hd-dvd. Neither seem to have much as far as releases for January or 2008 announced. Is more release announcements something I should expect very soon/or from CES?

CES.
January is historically a pretty slow month for home video releases. Look at the movie release schedule...all the crap movies come out 3 or 4 months before January. The big releases already came out before Christmas, and the Christmas theatricals won't make their way to shelves before April or May. |

I hope there's a Hi-Def Release of the "Ghostbusters" films next year. I saw a Commiercial that the "Universal HD" Channel will be showing Ghostbusters in Hi-Def soon.
![]() I know Universal is on the "HD-DVD" side of the traxs, but maybe they will see the "Blu" Light soon. ether way I own Both formats. |

Realize, too, that on amazon, when you look at the new releases every week on Wednesday--as I do each week--you see new titles there (including Blu and that other kind) that have not yet made it to the main amazon Hi Def links/pages regarding existing or new releases. Each week there are titles that appear on the new release pages for the first time, and it often takes a week or two for them to then appear on the main Blu page or the General Blu list that you can link to from there.
I thought the same as you did a few weeks back regarding the 1Q of 2008 for Blu, but then every week more titles appear for Jan - May. It appears that 2008 will be far stronger than 2007 for titles coming in Blu. I really think we're all going to have to be far more selective next year regarding Blu purchases simply because I would not be surprised to see BOGOs drop off and new/catalog release titles start to come faster and more furiously. If we thought we were often broke this year, we'd better hope the format war ends soon because--economically--we're going to have a much tougher time buying like we've been buying--to ensure that Blu wins each week because of all the new titles. Likely, though, all the new Blu converts will pick up the slack for us as Blu sails easily to victory for 2008, as it has in 2007. ![]() -Greg |
