Recall specifics have been announced. You must mail your defective disc (no case) in (postage paid by receiver) and they will mail out the corrected disc. However, according to the official statement, they will not ship replacement discs overseas. Direct your emails to june@utechmedia.co.kr.

Number of members on Korean Blu-ray forum (DVDPrime) are reporting playback errors with Memories of Murder. The error occurs around 1:28 mark when the detectives first questions the murder suspect at the plant. Many people have commented that the disc either freezes or stutters, then jump to ~1:33 mark. Not all people are reporting this problem and my personal disc plays with no problem. There may have been a bad batch of discs. People have questioned whether this problem may be occuring at the layer switch point. CJ Entertainment has been contacted and they are investigating the problem at this point. You may want to check your disc.

Why has it taken so long for this to appear? I got the standard amaray version (missed out on the LE) and it played flawlessly. Surely others on here would have noticed this before?

Must either be players at fault or a very small batch with errors.

Affected members are speculating that it may have to do with recent firmware upgrades on various players making them less tolerant of problematic discs or layer changes.

Are there any news about the subtitle situation on arahan ? Its been awhile ... does CJ entertainment know about this too ?

People are reporting that even though they did not have problems with initial viewing, they are now having stuttering. Most people reporting the problem are either using PS3 or LG Blu-ray players with latest firmware.

Art Service has issued a press release for a recall on this. First Press Digipak release is being recalled for defect in the disc at layer change. They say that specifics of how the recall will be handled will be announced shortly. Stay tuned.

So now I'm worried that even though my disc works fine, I'll buy another blu-ray player down the line and... it won't.

Are those of you with a working copy going to hold onto it?

It also doesn't make me feel more confident because they never responded to my request to exchange "Arahan" for the version that fixed the subtitle problem. Hell, I don't even remember where I BOUGHT "Memories of Murder"... it's too long ago! :-O

I'm not sending mine in. I have the first press digipack and it works fine on my 250GB PS3 Slim. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Anyway, with my Region B-PS3 the Digipak shows a wee bit of stuttering between 1:25 and 1:30, although you really have to search for it.

But on my Region A-PS3 it plays absolutely perfect, so I wouldn't want to send it back

But as long as this will be handled the way they did with Arahan, we shouldn't have a problem to keep both discs. Just to be on the safe side with any future updates or players...

Checked mine out last night, only watched it once before (on Blu, otherwise many times).

Froze for 30 seconds or so, did not think it was going to recover, then it jumped a few minutes ahead.

Two Sonys and an OPPO, more or less the same, OPPO was a bit quicker but I would say none were minor distractions, all were long delays.

Please keep us updated with a link to the recall.

Is it only at a certain point in the film? If so could you tell us approx when that is so people can check their discs quickly instead of watching the whole thing

Go to the 1st post, everything you need to know is there, I did start it a few minutes from the problem area.

(And for whatever it is worth it one of my top five movies, I was on a pre release list and expect I got one of the very early pressings)

This is the important part, keep in mind when going to 1:28 that is an hour and 28 minutes in not 1 minute 28 seconds. I stared mine 1:26:00 in, on my disk when it hits it very obvious.

Just when det. park doo-man and det. seo tae-yoon enter the factory to look for the suspect ....

Mine plays fine throughout that entire time. I am using a 60gig PS3 with 3.61 firmware (I have read that the 3.65 firmware has been causing problems for some users).

Perhaps, Though my two Sony's are different models and Stand alones not PS3's, throw the OPPO in there, the LG reports and it's not very hardware or single brand firmware specific.


Seems the updates followed some offical specifications that carried across brands.
