Default What movies will you repurchase when they are available 4K DV or HDR?

I don't want to go broke but I'm probably going to want some for the detail and some just because they are such staples/classics I will watch them many more times. Of course I'd love to replace my entire collection but I'm trying to be reasonable.

Armageddon
Avatar 3D
Avengers I
Avengers II
Batman Begins
Captain America 1
Captain America 2

The ones with 4k finishes that are graded by the cinematographer or with respect to the original look of the film

Though I'd prefer as little HDR revisionism as possible I'm game for a solid 4K remaster of Star Trek The Motion Picture.

I don't know if you know, but almost all the movies you mentioned were mastered at 2K.

Well, most likely none. A 60-65 in. TV is more than enough for my wife and I, and we don't sit 4-6 ft. from our TV. Additionally, I watch movies for the story/experience, not to sit and try to find flaws and/or shortcomings in the picture. I guess the question "When is enough enough ?" applies for me, and in my case, 1080P is enough. Obviously, everyone's situation will differ ...

I'm not likely to upgrade to 4K for several years anyway, so no idea. Prices will have to come down and there will have to be some decent content. Obviously 4K native films would profit the most, but there are hardly any in existence so far. I'm mostly into older films (we are talking 20s to 80s) and I first would have to see to what degree they benefit. I'm unlikely to replace my entire collection again as I'm perfectly happy with the way most films look on Blu-ray right now.

I'll repurchase the James Bond 007 movies if and when they all become available in the next format.

I upgraded from VHS to DVD when all of the Bond films became available on DVD.
I upgraded from DVD to Blu-ray when all of the Bond films became available on Blu-ray.

Where James Bond goes, I follow.

Few if any... Since my passion lies in Horror films and the vast majority of films in this genre aren't even coming close to fully utilizing what Blu Ray has to offer (mostly due to source elements) there's simply no reason to upgrade. 4K for me will be for new releases specifically designed for it, but even then it's still debatable as I'm a bargain hunter and if given the choice between a value priced Blu Ray or an overpriced UHD Bundle I'm probably going for the cheaper option. My 3D collection would be 10x as large if Hollywood/retailers would price those releases better and actually put them on a real sale occasionally, but given how 3D has been treated, I don't expect UHD to fair any differently/better.

I have gone from 800 to 25 so upgrading will be easy and my 4K is gorgeous up converted.

Only films that have an heavy emphasis on cinematography and even then, it really depends on how much better the video quality is. There is such a thing as too good of video quality, you start seeing too much.

If 4K actually does take off then I'll probably just start buying new films on the format.

So long as the films are 4K quality and not upconverts, I'll upgrade all that I can. I know of none of these as being announced, but if so, 100% these.
Lawrence of Arabia, Jaws, Alien Anthology, 007 series, Akira, Akira Kurosawa films.
Now, if on DVD/blu-ray a film is multiple cuts, good extras, you know, the whole package, I'm going to resist the 4K if it's bare bones. Lost a lot of good DVD extras and cuts of films upgrading to blu. Stuff went OOP and I'm still playing the repurchase game.

Right now the only ones I really want are:

Lord of the rings extended edition trilogy
hobbit extended edition trilogy with high frame rate and 3d at least bundled
star wars movies with proper restoration, bonus features and options for the various cuts the film has had so we can play the 3 to 5 different versions that exist.

You know I tried to think of some others perhaps the spider man movies but really I don't for see a big enough difference from the added room to be worth re buying much of anything. This isn't a good sign for 4k so the studios better be bringing their A game for the 4k titles they release first. It will basically decide the fate of the technology in the first month or 2 when we see what the format offers.

I would also be interested in re buying quite a few movies that had horrible errors in production for the previous blu ray such as sword in the stone. Basically titles that have errors so bad I would consider reburying them with even just a better quality blu ray.

Absolutely none. The buck stops at Blu-ray for me. 1080p is just fine.

Only a few select titles. Specifically, most Alfred Hitchcock. Also any dramas/classic realized from the 1930s-1960s. Also, my favorite movie ever, Field Of Dreams.

I as well don't intend to buy a single ultra hd bluray...in other words nothing but a Cash Grab. Least to me it is. After having DVD great for the time then bluray with the high definition experience and now ultra?? Lol. Its all a joke to me now. I as well watch movies for what they are not about quality or whatever else the super ultra cash grab hd bluray can do bluray was supposed to already give you that. I think 4K is a lot of hype
