Hi Everyone,
Looking and upgrading my receiver, getting heights and getting into Atmos. That said, it looks like I'd have a speaker wire run of approximately 50 feet for one of the speakers. I'll definitely get low-gauge wire, but are there any issues with such a long run? It will be the longest I've ever gone for. Thanks in advance! |

I think the longer the cable the more power you'll lose, so you need to go for a lower gauge. At 50 feet the power loss will be negligible with 12 AWG about 3-5%, so you should be fine, but it depends on your budget. you'd lose about 15% with 18 AWG.

Not at all. Get a good wire, as chip75 said, 12ga should be sufficient. I run 12ga for everything in the house, runs as short as three feet to as long as 30'. If you were in the 100' range, I'd look at even heavier, but 12ga will do you just fine in this case.
