USA MOON gets launch Date- January 12, 2010

Per David Bowie's official website, Moon is expected to be released sometime in November on DVD & Blu-ray through Sony Pictures. November 16th is listed as the possible date, but this is a Monday, so perhaps this is the UK release date as most new releases in the USA are on a Tuesday. Moon has gotten rave reviews, and is the first major movie from director Duncan Jones (who is David Bowie's son).

Blu-ray.com News Release
Quote:
Contrary to earlier reports, it seems that 'Moon' will finally see the light just before the year's out. Several retailers have Duncan Jones's science-fiction movie (which just won multiple awards at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, including best feature film) up for preorder on Blu-ray with a release date of December 29, which would tie in with another Sony sci-fi movie, 'District 9'.

That date is unofficial until there is a formal announcement, and pecifications and special features aren't known yet. For the details of the UK edition, see our post of October 15.

I've yet to see it, but I'm very glad it will be coming to Blu-ray shortly. I really hope I find it worthy of adding to my Blu-ray library.

I saw in in a theatre. Besides the wife and myself there were exactly two other humanoids. One of the two humanoids stated loudly at the end that he was going to ask for his money back.

I liked it... wife thought it was the worst movie ever made.

I just saw it yesterday. Toronto might have the only theatre in all Canada showing Moon. Too bad it is not getting a wide release. This is one fantastic hard science fiction film. If you love your SF realistic and dealing with ideas, then forget the blockbusters and run for Duncan Jones' Moon! Simply amazing and had us talking for hours afterwards.

Similar to the previous poster, there were a total of 7 of us in the theatre. And how many people flocked to see the silly Transformers movie? I just hope that science fiction fans hear about this one before it leaves the scene shortly. The rest (and myself included) will need to wait anxiously for the blu-ray release. I hope it has a commentary track from the director. I'd love to hear his thoughts on the film.

This is the second best movie of the year behind District 9. Definitely buying this.

I'm interested in seeing this one. It seems like somewhat of an unnoticed gem of a movie.

I saw this a few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it -- my favorite movie of the year so far. It is hard sci-fi, though, and the feeling of desolation it created reminded me a lot of '2001'. Sam Rockwell was amazing.

Day 1 for me.

This must have had a microscopic theatrical release when it came out, I don't remember any listings fat any of the theaters in my area!

The movie was amazing

It did remind me of 2001 and a feel of blade runner (cold, lonely desolate)

I saw it at a film festival and was blown away by Sam Rockwells performance.

He is the most underrated actor in HOLLYWOOD today.

Great Sci fi

I really wanted to see this, but it didn't get released anywhere near me (that I knew of). Now at least I'll get to finally see it on blu.
