Dr. Edward Pretorius, an acclaimed physicist, has perfected his newest invention: the Resonator, a machine which allows those near to it to glimpse life not visible to the naked eye. Imagining the discoveries he could make, Pretorius begins to go mad, much to the concern of his young assistant, Crawford Tillinghast. However, after the machine malfunctions during a highly sensitive experiment and Pretorius is found brutally murdered, Crawford is fingered as the primary suspect. Crawford, now confined to an asylum, becomes the ward of Dr. Katherine McMichaels, who takes a special interest in his tales of the strange creatures able to be seen while the machine is operating and convinces him to help her rebuild the device, woefully unaware of the terrifying, hidden world she is about to enter…

It would be amazing if VS could uncover this fully uncut "transformation" footage and restore it to the film, as well. It was missing from the earlier "uncut" Blu-ray:

I picked up the "From Beyond" 4k UHD. I just hope the HDR is not overcooked. "From Beyond" colors look intense enough on blu ray!

VS does tend to run pretty hot and saturated on the color palettes for their 4k releases, and struggle with a bit of chroma noise. Things get especially "interesting" when not using FiM for their encode work. Their 4k's still tend to kick the crap out of the prior blu rays, though.

I'm surprised the Good Dr. West isn't joining us in this New Year's Day celebration, kicking off 2023 right with From Beyond on 4k finally. He's conspicuously absent. Maybe too much "champagne from a lab beaker" last night as the the Apple dropped..... Paging Dr. West, your new transfer has arrived...

Hellraiserfan, I'm with ya. I'd LOOOOVE to see Dagon get a proper 4k release. Damned good call right there. I'm muddling thru with the Aussie blu ray in the meantime.
