![]() ![]() Deep Impact 4K Blu-ray I managed to talk with a couple of people at Paramount earlier this afternoon 9.16.22. the 1998 sci-fi drama Deep Impact is now slated among the next batch of 4K UHD BD releases from Paramount that would be out, at the latest, in early 2023. The 4K UHD BD will, no doubt, be given both the Dolby Vision and the Dolby Atmos treatment. But I did pass along a suggestion for DTS-HD Master on the accompanying standard Blu-ray. I informed them that the film, throughout it's entire North American history on physical media (first DVD, then Blu-ray Disc), had never been given the DTS treatment. So, here's hoping.... There are more pressing matters to hand than Deep Impact getting DTS treatment.
Specifically, Scream 3 getting the 4K treatment.... |

I will always remember this movie even though I haven’t seen it since 2001. My wife(fiancée at the time) and I were watching it the morning of 9/11. We turned it off to go get some donuts and saw the news footage of the second plane hitting and thought we were still watching the movie for a second.

It's firmly on digital in UHD w/ DV now. So yeah this was a clearly known to be a coming release.
I can't believe we still haven't heard something beyond rumour mill chatter on Twister, though. It'd be nice to get both of these "disaster" movies, from studios known willing to release catalog fare. Daylight is still heavily rumoured but talk of twister along with that went away... |

DI has a reference-grade late 90's action movie surround-sound mix, so it should be presented in the best possible audio formats. That being said, Dolby Atmos would be the preferable choice, simply because there is far more HT hardware on the market and in homes with that format than the DTS equivalent, DTS:X.
