Written by the writers of Peep Show and directed by no less than Danny Boyle, this pilot episode was highly enjoyable. Showing a new PR supremo landing in the deep end with the Police trying to find a sniper in London, it was very amusing as everyone drowned under a deluge of 24 hour news, indecision and buck passing. The full series is due to be shown later this year with the first three episodes being directed by Jon S. Baird, director of Filth. No sign of a DVD or blu as I expect they are waiting till the full series is completed but its on 4OD http://www.channel4.com/programmes/babylon/4od
Just noticed, got the year wrong in the title line. Par for the course for me, it usually takes me three months to realise its a new year. Last edited by HotRats; 02-11-2014 at 10:45 PM. Reason: Brain not work |

I thought it was very hit and miss. The PR stuff was absolutely brilliant, but the trio of comedy cops were completely pants and killed the entire pace of the programme. Now that they're continuing with the rest of the show, here's hoping they drop some of the fat and focus on the real interesting stuff, or at least have something interesting to do with the set up characters.

I renewed my Netflix subscription to check out the new series of Black Mirror but I figured since I had Netflix for the rest of the month I'm look around for some other things to check out, not sure how I landed on this but I was glad I did. Even though the show isn't cancelled as far as I'm aware, it ends on a note that makes it feel like it was cancelled but that aside I throughly enjoyed the show. The acting was top notch and I thought the balance between drama and comedy was pitch perfect. A little exaggerated though, perhaps, I thought this was meant to show off a "real look" at the police but that is bollocks. The show seemingly takes place over just a couple of months and we have shootings, explosions and civil unrest every few days as depicted by Babylon. London isn't heaven but it also isn't that bad.
