United Kingdom The Hammer Collection

Obviously I'm a newcomer at the moment so once again I don't know if this has already got a thread but a Hammer collection is being released by Final Cut Entertainment on November 21st 2016.

The set will consist of four Hammer films released by Universal which are Brides Of Dracula, Kiss Of The Vampire, Captain Clegg and Curse of The Werewolf.

It also comes with a fifth disc that features a 50 minute documentary about the Hammer-Universal films and a stills gallery. The films themselves will have the bonus features from the separate releases.

Nice to know about the extras, thanks!

I'm curious to know: does it use the same transfers as the recent US set?

The framing is the same between these and the Universal set, but I believe the transfers are different. People were hoping that the Universal Brides... and Curse... would be framed like the German releases instead of these, but no such luck.

These have been out on individual releases for a couple years already too, so checking the entries already in the database will give you the spec info for this set.

Also found this post in the Universal Hammer Horror 8-Film thread with one persons review of the difference between the UK and US...

I've been on the fence about buying the UK blu of "Paranoiac" and I think I'm going to stall on "Nightmare" for a while from the UK.

This set seems to offer trade-offs and differences more often than straight improvements over the UK releases. I really do enjoy the extras on my UK blus, but this might be worth a sale price if the following is true about this set vs UK versions:

Phantom of the Opera: Moderately improved PQ and AQ, cropped AR
Night Creatures/Captain Clegg: Slightly improved PQ, no longer PAL speedup
Brides of Dracula: Slightly improved PQ
Kiss of the Vampire: Slightly improved PQ
Evil of Frankenstein: Slightly improved PQ
Cures of the Werewolf: Slightly improved PQ
Paranoiac: No differences (less extras)
Nightmare: No differences (less extras) (presumably)

Appears to have been pushed back into Jan next year. Disappointing, it would have been perfect for Christmas.

I already own three of the four films in this set so I'm not sure if I can justify the double-dip.

Very nice looking set though if you don't already have them....

And as I said before you can never have too much Hammer

Looks like Hammer Time will have to wait for a bit!
