Inclusion Riders in Hollywood...

What do people think about Inclusion Riders starting to gain steam in Hollywood? For people unfamiliar with what it is, according to NPR:

It's a stipulation that actors and actresses can ask (or demand) to have inserted into their contracts, which would require a certain level of diversity among a film's cast and crew.

For instance, an A-list actor negotiating to join a film could use the inclusion rider to insist that "tertiary speaking characters should match the gender distribution of the setting for the film, as long as it's sensible for the plot," Stacy L. Smith explained in a 2014 column that introduced the idea in The Hollywood Reporter.

Michael B Jordan's production company has now vowed to use them. Damon & Affleck's production company has now vowed to use them.

While I love the intention of this movement, I worry about what the true outcome will become. Much like how affirmative action has actually turned into discrimination against Asians in colleges across the country. Any time there are unnatural, required quotas, there can always be unintended adverse effects.
