So my laptop was purchased in October of 2012 and it's falling apart, physically. I have an HP Pavilion DV7-7012nr with 16GB of RAM.
About a month or two ago, the casing around the machine has begun to crack, starting from the left hinge. It seems like the screen (a 17") is too weighty for the hinges that they've installed on this model. This is the SECOND time I've had this problem. The first time was within the first year of getting the machine. Now, I will be honest and say that, though this was purchased in 2012, it DOES still work very, very well. However, the whole thing is coming apart. Here are some pics. I actually hold it together with a clip at this point and never close the monitor. ![]() ![]() ![]() I got a quote of $200 to fix this cheap plastic crap on the bottom. The question is: since it's still working fine, do I invest in it and just pay for the bottom now? Or do I take that $200 and put it towards a brand new laptop? Thoughts? |
