Norway When is The Dark Knight coming to 4K UHD?

Is there any word on when the Dark Knight triliogy is coming to 4k ultra hd blu ray? Iv seen some streaming sites have it in "4k" so im thinking they should be on disc also though its not hdr in streaming. Also a bunch of other streaming 4k films like captain phillips, looper, fury, elysium, gatsby, run all night, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and so on. Sorry if this has been asked before im pretty new with film releasing buisness.

They need to sort out the garbage masters first, and I doubt Nolan will sign off on HDR that fast

Yes, they need to do fresh scans and leave them unmolested.

Hopefully, he'll tell them, "Stuff HDR- release my movies the way I made them."

At the earliest, Dark Knight's 10th anniversary -- so 2018.

And +1 what DVDMike said -- first two movies need remasters badly, and Nolan is mad protective of his movies. They'd have to wrangle him and Pfister (not like he's busy) to approve an HDR pass.

Either that or they could... *SHOCK HORROR* ... actually just release the movie with the proper original color timing, instead.

Leave well enough alone? Who am I kidding?

Though I would love to hear any details on the Nolan films being released on 4k blu ray....I know we all have titles we are anticipating their release....

That leads me to suggest we start a "When will X come out" master thread for questions like this. I know we have what would your top 5 catalog titles wish list thread. ...but their is an obvious need for master thread with the new format.

Thoughts???

We could have a locked, sticky thread with a single post that reads:

Search the forums. If you don't see a release date for the title, we don't know one yet.

I hear ya. That would work for most, but trying to find a single home for the segment of members that will feel the need to post anyway. Hate to see the front page turn into a series of "When will X come out" "Wish they would release Y" "Z is my all time favorite movie...any heard if..."

Cause we all know it's a matter of time before more and more starting buying UDH players and a couple of big software titles hit the market...this forum is run over with those threads.

I like old logo bat with yellow circle on chest. It's classic!

I want Batman (1989) UHD it was 35mm film to perfect for 4K.

Oh I completely agree, but HDR is the new shiny thing that sells the format. I haven't actually seen any HDR content in person (aside from screenshots) so I can't really comment, but if they leave well enough alone in that regard I certainly won't complain.

Master thread? It should have its own sub-forum. Otherwise people here are just gonna create threads asking when any given movie is gonna get a UHD release. What happened to waiting for pre-order links?

I think we will see all the Batman films eventually, but I'm in no great hurry for any of them. Compared to the number of re-releases and repackagings their films received and are still receiving, WB were really one-and-done on Blu-ray, and so far, the number of true remastered re-releases they've put out on Blu-ray is shockingly small. And, since WB are famously icy on licensing films, you can bet that when the Batman films come out on UHD Blu-ray, they will be the one set of UHD Blu-ray encodes ever produced, at least as far as the films from 1989-2012 are concerned.

So yeah, I'm more than happy to wait for the UHD Blu-ray format to be well-understood, before we get any Batman films remastered for UHD Blu-ray.
