Blu-ray Baron

I can understand a Blu-ray being pre-ordered, since it might sell out quick. But digital movies don't technically "sell out" since there's no actual object, it's a file that can sell an infinite amount of copies. Yet iTunes offers pre-orders. Why? Is there any benefit to a pre-order on iTunes? It seems kind of pointless to me.
