What storylines do you think DC and Marvel movies will focus on when they are all done with the Civil War, Thanos and Darkseid storylines?
Besides the X-men movies which have been doing a phenomenal job adapting famous X-Men storylines, what other storylines do you think the Justice League and Avengers characters should focus on next? It would be great if DC adapts Alex Ross' Justice and Kingdom Come next. Even as they are making an animated Kingdom Come movie, it shouldnt prevent them from making a live-action version. They did the same with The Dark Knight Returns. I'm a bit afraid that DC may focus on making movies revolved around the Crisis on Multiple Earth books - as epic as they may be, they were just all over the place and sloppy, and there is certainly no need to make a story around the sacrifice of Flash. The same goes for Marvel adapting Secret Wars. While it may be fun to have a lot of characters together on film, many of these comic book versions were just gimmicky and had storylines which were nothing special. Regarding Spiderman, I think the Sinister Six and the Symbiote storylines should be avoided - also too gimmicky. With Spider-Man, I would focus next on Kraven or Kingpin storylines. |

With DC, I can see them shift their focus to Brainac. I don't know any other villain big enough to call on the JL again. Unless they do Crisis on Two Earths or pit them against each other like Flash Paradox.
With Marvel, sadly no where. They don't own the two biggest villain in Galactus or Dr. Doom to use. And they can't use anything from the X-Men universe. So they will have to keep finding obscure villains or have to reboot the main films once the current cast goes away. About Kingpin. Who does his rights belong to? Do they have a deal with Sony like they do with Fox where they can share character names? Because unlike Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver, you can't explain Kingpin's power away. He is just a very strong human. Maybe that is why they can use him because he is a human. |

I love how Netflix has handled Daredevil and Jessica Jones. I'll always want to see the big spectacle blockbusters, but I love how in depth a series can get into a character. They could give me a Netflix series on any Marvel characters. Flash, Arrow, and Gotham are pretty decent, but I'd like to see what a streaming service would do with a few DC characters.

Regarding Marvel's tv characters (Daredevil, Kingpin, Etc) - those have different rights for tv? Who owns Daredevil and Kingpin for movies? Is Venom really that popular though? Im guessing they could go the Deadpool route - if it's violent and funny, the movie can do well. Venom does not need to go dark and serious. While Eddie Brock is a serious character, when he's Venom he is unintentionally funny - like a bad-ass violent version of Spiderman. It seems that the best way to a successful superhero movie is balancing the violent stuff with humor as we have seen with the Avengers movies, Guardians, Ant-Man and Deadpool. |

On the Marvel side I think Guardians could be the main focus post Infinity Wars. Most series are getting trilogies and Guardians will only have two prior to Infinity Wars. Also I think the actors have mentioned doing solo spinoff movies too.
Though I doubt this will happen, if Guardians isn't main focus I'd like to see the Defenders become the main focus. I doubt this will happen though because I think the chances of any Marvel tv characters INCLUDING NETFLIX SHOWS appearing on the big screen are microscopic. Unlike Marvel, those in contract with DC aren't in 5+ movie contracts. So post Justice League we could see some lesser known characters getting films. Also not sure who reads DC material but there's also Justice League of America, JL United, JL Dark, and Justice Society. Given the poor critical reception BvS is getting (I loved the movie BTW) I think WB wants to see how Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Justice League do and decide what to do post Cyborg/Green Lantern Last edited by dcfan88; 03-31-2016 at 01:14 AM. |

I hate to say it but it seems that DC doesnt have good comic book storylines that can be achieved in one film? Besides origin films, can anyone name a DC comic book that has a really good story for its main character that can be done in one film - any for Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg, Green Lantern? Batman is the only character that seems to have the highest percentage of good comic books that can be adapted as one movie rather than trilogy.
It seems that audiences are bored of origin stories and just want to get to the meat. Of all the DC comic books i've read, it has seemed like the team stories (Justice League, Justice Society) have the better stories. DC seems to have a better shot with the more obscure characters like Suicide Squad or Lobo, etc. The big players seem to only function well when they are all together. Furthermore, there actually arent too many superheroes that work by themselves such as Spiderman and Batman. Once you head away from Batman and Spiderman, those other superhero characters work best as teams - in the comic books and the movies. So people thinking that DC has to copy Marvel with solo films is actually unnecessary because their main players work better as teams. The whole idea that another Green Lantern movie focused on many Green Lantern characters is way more interesting than focusing on just Hal Jordan or just John Stewart. Of all the DC big players, I think Superman can still have a few more solo films if they focus on Bizarro or Mr Mxyplixit. Superman still has some interesting villains which dont need the Justice League. Brainiac is good but I would use him for Justice League not solo Superman. I am talking about team ups here though and not solo movies. Solo movies will do fine but where do you find a conflict big enough after Thanos to call on the Avengers again? They can't use mutants or don't own the rights to Fantastic Four yet. Even then, I think Fox still owns the rights to Galactus and Silver Surfer. They are moving towards other teams like Defenders, Guardians and Inhumans but I am not sure if we will see another Avengers movie after this phase. There might be a new Avengers team since their team doesn't always have the same members but when do you start calling a team Avengers and not just Guardians plus Hulk?
About DC, their issue is longevity. They can sustain themselves in the short term with JL and solo movies but once they burn those out, do they have the talent and balls to do solo movies of more obscure characters? Marvel went out there with Guardians and Ant Man, can WB say let's do a Lobo movie and do it right? Deadpool might make it easier for them to say maybe but do they have a team in place that can make it happen? I do not want to see them rehash Batman and Superman again after their current slate has run dry or failed to live up to expectations. I would like to see Flash Paradox, Tower of Babel and Teen Titans done on the big screen. About TV rights. I know Marvel owns X-Men TV rights but not their movie rights. That is why when Fox announced Hellfire and Legion, people speculated a deal would be worked out for them to gain back FF4 in return for getting those TV shows made. All speculation. So I don't know if some characters full under both or one or how they are split. Quote:

I think that they should do a proper Venom or Carnage and maybe possible with Kraven or The Kingpin but there's so much you can do with storylines and also different direction's you can go that's so great with comic book's in general.

With Baron Zemo in Civil War, I would love to see the Masters of Evil for Avengers. Have Zemo slowly recruit Avengers villains (provided they don't kill them off....), to take on the Avengers as a team.
Could use the tagline Earth's Mightiest Villains ![]() |

On the DC side of things it nearly all but confirmed that Green Lantern won't be around until Justice League 2.
One of the biggest GL villains is the anti monitor and there have been times the Justice League has had to fight anti monitor. As cheesy and overdone (in comics and animation) as it is both marvel and dc could have avengers (marvel) or justice league (DC) fight a "Super villain team up" |

Kang the Conquerer isn't really well known, but neither were the Guardians, and that turned out okay. And introducing some time travel could spice things up a bit.
Galactus, of course, if they can get the rights back. And Marvel could seriously expand the Guardians sub-universe into an entirely new franchise. Sequels, solo films for Star Lord and Rocket, the Kree/Skrull war (again, if they get the FF rights back), a Nova Corps movie.. the cosmic films alone could keep going for decades. The main things I'd like to see from DC are a Plastic Man movie, a Vertigo universe (Sandman, Spectre, etc.), and the Legion of Super Heroes. And the ultimate fanboy wish would have to be some form of Marvel vs. DC crossover film/series. |
