Default Wireless speed.

Can someone clarify for me whats going on in the wifi world.

If I have WMV footage on my laptop (720p gametrailer stuff) and I stream it to my PS3 it lags, jerks and stutters (after 3-5 seconds anyway). AVI's work ok, as does music etc.

Going back to the WMV (its only 1 minute of footage), if I copy the WMV it takes about 5-8 seconds longer to copy it than it does to stream it in realtime (ie the actual run time of the footage). Therefore that explains the stuttering.

But, if I get HD PS3 footage and send it to my PSP via remote play, it doesn't stutter at all. So i'm confused really.

Since I have a belkin 54mbps connection surely this is enough speed for that video footage from laptop to PS3. The two are only 10 feet apart and the signal is registering 100%.

Could this be a potential firewall issue causing the speed to slow down or is this normal behaviour.

idk man...whne im steamin from desktop PC to PS3...using wifi,,,it takes about 5secs longer than wired..so i alwasy stream from wiired connection..remote play seems fine for me too...i think its because of the laptop..idk for sure tho....its not about ur router .....if ur laptop modem demodulates the signal slow...or it has a program in the background running then u gonna get those stuttering problems whnne streaming (is ur laptop speed more than 3.5ghz )

we kno for sure its not the ps3 that is slow...and then remember ur laptop has to send it to ur router,,,check ur laptop and do this.....close every program u have....IE, messengers etc...

I have 2 messengers running but they are not doing anything. 5 seconds quicker wired would make all the difference. My laptop is a 1.7ghz duo core 2. So falls short of the 3.5 ghz your talking about.

I'm sort of happy just running vids from the PS3 now, it takes a while to copy over but its a simple process.

I guess im just a bit upset because I feel the marketting behind the technologies is all BS.
