United Kingdom LOTR and Hobbit Extended Editions Region Free

Hello guys,
I believe the US version of LOTR extended edition trilogy boxset is region free but I wasn't sure whether the US version of the Hobbit 3D extended edition trilogy was or not. If anyone owns or knows whether they are that be great.

I have had a quick search but it still says the hobbit trilogy as not been tested in other regions yet.

But, I've heard that many a 3D BD disc is region locked despite their 2D BD counterparts being region free in the same package. Is there any definitive proof for the 3D discs being region free? THAT is what the OP might be looking to find out.

My question is, why do they want the US set anyhow? These things are often far less expensive in European countries than the US.

Will say it again, Warner have never region locked a BD be it 2D or 3D, other studios might have but not Warner.

ha right so hopefully its all region free including the 3D bluray.

The US versions looks alot nicer. It uses slimmer cases and doesn't have certificates covering everything. I think LOTR only came with blue cases in europe but US got black cases.

No hopefully they are 100% most definitely positively absolutely region free.

As for the cases you are right the US LOTR set used slimmer black cases plsu LOTR EE Trilogy is now OOP in the UK so importing is your only real option, not sure about Hobbit EE Trilogy but the UK set has black cases and is only £40 so before you going importing that one make sure the US releases isn't going to end up costing double (ie remember there will be customs for items over £15)

Yes the Hobbit EE is pretty cheap in the UK. So I may have to just except the cert logos and the oversized cases lol.
