4K Night View Blu-ray

Vicom Ltd. will release what is being touted as Japan's first Ultra HD Blu-ray, 4K夜景 (4K Night View), on March 26th, 2016. This appears to be a travelogue piece with music or ambient sound, as the sound is not noted as being any particular language.

Vicom themselves have a shop listing for it here. I do not know if they ship internationally, and I suspect they do not.

4K解像度
従来のフルHDテレビの1920×1080画素から3840×2160画素へ、4倍の解像度で映像がより緻 密に。

BT.2020規格
Ultra HD Blu-rayや4K/8K放送で採用の「BT.2020」は、色の再現性が飛躍的に向上。自然界に存在する色の約99.9％を再 現。

高コントラスト技術HDR
従来のテレビより輝度のダイナミックレンジ(高低幅)が広がり、暗いところも潰れることなくしっかりと再現 し、明るいところは明るいままの映像が可能に。

H.265(HEVC)
現行のデジタル放送やDVDで使われているMPEG2に比べ約4倍、Blu-rayで使われているH.264に比べ約2倍の圧縮性能がある新しい技術。

Yes, Amazon.jp ships to the U.S. I've bought quite a few from them over the years. Best to order a few at a time to save on shipping (which is about 12 bucks or so for one item and a couple more for each item after that). Orders usually arrive within a few days, much faster than amazon.uk.

I'm thinking of ordering this and the other one, but it comes out to around $100 shipped. Have to think really hard, but the Japan docs are known for their great PQ. They really appreciate them more than we do, that's why so many are available there.

I wish Miyako Island would drop another $20 so I could order both it and Night View. I'm sure they will be demo material.
