Angry Oppo BDP 103 Zooming Mess ........

I recently gave my son my Oppo BDP 93 which would zoom ANY disc I put in it...
I gave it to him because of the audio stream branching problem that couldnt be resolved with firmware........ and the workaround did not sound anything like the bitstream sound.

So I buy the Oppo BDP 103 ........ the audio is fixed, but several movies will not allow Zoom, like the 93 did ....!?!?? Oppo gave a reply, something to do with the pathway the signal now had to take....mmm ...... no bullshit...!!! The 103 has hdmi inputs..... thank God....so now I have a cheap little Sony bluray player ....feed it into the 103'S input and guess what....it Zooms.

Why all the fuss....... ???? We don't like letterboxing, and full screen chops off too much.
Incremental Zoom allows me to fill practically all of my 70" screen without sacrificing much side content..... sweet spot is Oppo's 1.2X zoom setting....

Before this I had an LG BP 390 that had 11 Zoom increments, unfortunately LG killed the machine with bad firmware.....

So why is this bothering studios so much, and how are they getting manufacturers to knuckle under on something so trivial. We just want to watch movies the way WE WANT TO..... I don't give a crap what the studio intended .....!!! Has anyone else noticed.....the feature is all but absent on most newer players....and now apparently the studio authors have gotten the higher end manufacturers to block it as well...???

Wrapping up..... buy a cheap $50 Sony make sure it can decode DTS hd mast., and Tru HD, set the audio output to LPCM.... ( decode in the player ) ....... Buy the $500. Oppo and feed the Sony's hdmi into the Oppo... The Oppo's Marvel processing chip takes over and you have a fantastic picture that you can Zoom to your hearts content ......
How Freaking Nuts is This .......????
