Default Is the batman begins music theme the most imitated one in movies?

I swear that after batman begins was made, almost half of the modern movies I watch have a music theme similar to the theme heard in batman begins.
The last example was London has fallen. Am I the only one who has noticed this?

I was watching The Dark Knight and the music sounded pretty similar too so you may be on to something

I thought I was the only one who noticed this. It's become a little annoying to hear the same style of that music score over and over lol. I know that this has happened with movies that have the same music composer , but in this case most of the movies have different music composers.

This is kind of how Hans Zimmer works. He takes under his wing many proteges through his company (Remote Control Productions) to teach his craft (and he's not the only one, Michael Kamen had several proteges in his later years as his battle with MS made it difficult to do his scores without collaborators). Many of them do imitate his style (especially on scores he produces) but some branch out and do wildly different scores (see Tom Holkenborg).

Hans Zimmer is constantly reusing, adapting, and repurposing his own scores, so the fact that you are hearing many familiar scores is part of is that. Batman Begins itself borrowed from some of his other works, and he has borrowed from BB to do others since.

For example, Pirates of the Caribbean borrows quite a bit from Zimmer's own Drop Zone score. Here is one example (skip to about 2:04):

(and yes, the first PotC is credited to Klaus Badelt, but the themes were created by Zimmer, then handed off to Badelt (and others) to fully compose)

I think the Nolan films inspired a lot of annoying trends. I'm still seeing trailers which sound like Inception.

Yep, the constant VWAAAAAAM effect isn't going anywhere.

The modern-day film score "orchestra"...

[strings] chugga-chugga-CHUGGA-CHUGGA, chugga-chugga-CHUGGA-CHUGGA (repeat endlessly)

[horns] BWAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (to accentuate "important" moments...which apparently occur every fifteen seconds)

[percussion] (endless Taiko drumming)

It's Hans Zimmer and his proteges ripping themselves off constantly. And other composers taking "inspiration" from their work.

Zimmer really is a hit and miss kinda guy. I think his collaborations with Nolan are brilliant. He really brings his A-game for those movies(Interstellar in particular had a terrific score). Other directors, not so much.

Interstellar was a magical score. That church organ was perfect.

Hans and His Magic Organ? I don't like the sound of that!

Filthy double entendre aside I love the score to Interstellar and Zimmer's work in general, he's one of my favourite movie composers.

The BWONG effect was not Zimmer. That was done by the people who scored the Inception trailer (Two Steps from Hell, I think) as the score had not been composed yet. Cracked did a whole article on this.

Yup, it was a fellow by the name of Zack Hemsey who did the signature HUAWAAAR theme for the Inception trailer. I think Zimmer riffed on it for the score.

I like four or five of Zimmer's work (even then they're usually a collaboration with someone else), but the rest just sounds the same for me.

When I started to listen to movie soundtracks, at age 15 or so, The Rock was one of my faves. Recently I played the CD for the very first time in more than 12 years and I was stunned I never noticed it before ... Gladiator, The Rock and Pirates of the Caribbean are almost exactly the same on many, many moments. Now I have to think about the other scores all the time when I want to focus on one.

That's why I'm such a big fan of John Williams. It's often that you clearly recognize his typical sounds, but it never ever feels like a copy. He always turns it into something new. With Zimmer, it's just a copy, many times. Not all of it, The Little Prince (partner-composer) is one of my faves of 2015.

The theme from Sunshine/The Thin Red Line is the most copied film music ever, I must have heard it in every other movie trailer for the last ten years. I can't even tell the difference between them at this point.
