Outlast 2 promises to take us on “a twisted new journey into the depths of the human mind and its dark secrets,” that Red Barrels co-founder Philippe Morin promises “will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.”
What little we know about this game has already remedied a few of the things that have bothered me about the series’ setting and cast of characters. I had a good time in Mount Massive, but these games are too good to employ such an overused and stereotypically scary locale as an asylum. As for the cast, well, it isn’t so much a cast as it is a legitimate freakshow of dead-eyed men wearing soiled adult diapers. In Outlast 2, they’re joined by ladies.
And yes, the night vision camera is returning. Obvs.
