I wasn't even aware of this movie until the Superbowl add this evening. Looks like a hoot! Can't wait.

Huge Minions fan here, this is day one for me.
Seeing this during the Super Bowl was a pleasant surprise amongst the endless sea of crappy ads all night.

I have all of the Despicable movies but love the first one the best, it has a "sweetness" the subsequent films lacked.
I don't expect this one to be like the first (just like the first "Ice Age" was so much better than each sequel) but I welcome any new animated 3D with my favorite characters.

And here's hoping for a nice lenticular slipcover too

I felt the same way but after rewatching a couple times it Gru on me.

The release of Minions: The Rise of Gru will also be delayed.

Here’s what Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri had to say in a statement:

“In response to the severity of the situation in France, we are temporarily closing our Illumination Mac Guff studio in Paris. With this decision, we are abiding by the French Government’s guidelines and doing everything possible to slow the spread of the virus as we care for our artists and their families. This means we will be unable to finish Missions: The Rise of Gru in time for our planned global releases in late June and early July. While we all grapple with the enormity of this crisis, we must put the safety and protection of our employees above all. We look forward to finding a new release date for the return of Gru and the Minions.”

Universal Pictures has announced a new release date for Minions: The Rise of Gru.

The sequel is now set for July 2, 2021.

Sing 2, originally set to open on that date, has now been pushed to Dec. 22, 2021.

Wow another one shifting by a whole year. 2020 will have so few blu rays released when all is said and done! Looking forward to this one though, I very much enjoyed the first Minions and thought the 3D was really good.

I caught the 3D trailer for Minions 2: The Rise of Gru with Jurassic World Dominion. Minions 2 3D promises to be an action-packed cartoon, with as much pop and stereo flourish as a Dreamworks movie.

Here, the action lines form a circle around the impact of the kick. Looks cool and you can't see in 2D.

I haven't seen the first Minions, but I ordered its 3D Blu-ray solely off how good its sequel looks.

Unless Random Space get involved, quite low sadly. The last Illumination title (Sing 2) was unceremoniously dumped out flat.
