Arnold Schwarzenegger Boards Revenge Pic 478

Quote:
Arnold Schwarzenegger is dealing with a lot of daddy issues. We don’t mean he’s having regular sessions with a shrink – he’s playing a lot of father figures, including zombie-daughter pic Maggie and even Terminator Genisys, where his cyborg has a protective side. He’ll channel that impulse again for 478.

The script, written by Enemy’s Javier Gullon, finds Arnie as a man who loses his wife and child in a plane crash. As it transpires, the tragedy was caused by an air traffic controller’s mistake. The controller is hounded and eventually placed into protective custody, but Schwarzenegger’s character can’t let go and decides to seek his own vengeance.

Yet lest you think this is all sounding a little like Collateral Damage (minus the terrorism aspect), think again. According to Deadline’s sources, it all plays out more like a subtle character piece than the Austrian Oak going in guns blazing. And it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise given the writer.

Schwarzenegger and the producers will start the search for a director and aim to have the film in production by the autumn. Terminator Genisys will be out here on July 3, with Maggie following on July 24.

Arnie's next project, sounds great. If all goes well with the new Terminator this film will be wrapped by end of the year and then the Terminator sequels for next year and then Conan Autumn 2016/Spring 2017.

Excellent, I was beginning to wonder what he was doing next. Hopefully be out next year so there's something for me to look forward to in 2016.

Yeah, it was a very pleasant surprise at least we now know a Schwarzenegger film will be released next year. It could be the one and only time I make it to the cinema next year.

My friend is an air traffic controller, I don't know how he would think about this. A mistake should be corrected of course but they're not criminals. I hope this film will focus on both sides and not treat the air traffic controller as a bad guy. Probably a more serious study on the situation that questions the morals of both characters, that would be interesting.

Thank goodness the guy is still in business. Sounds like he might finally be onto a straight winner here.

I think there is more to it than that. Either that or Schwarzenegger is playing a similar role he did in Sabotage again.

My first thought was a variation on Collateral Damage.

Yeah from the information we have so far it looks like the same idea. Family dies, Schwarzenegger doesn't let it go and tracks down the people who are responsible.

If I had to take a guess, it would be more drama than action.

EDIT: I'll Be Back has spoken, and I will defer to his judgement that it will be a serious action movie.

Excellent writer, obvious to anyone who's seen Enemy.

But I've never been a huge Arnie fan, and it's just hard for me to accept someone who's almost 70, unless that's the major point of the film. Like someone is dying, or something like that. I guess that's not great on my part, but it's just true.

So, I'll be torn on this one.

Yeah, the best description I could likely give it is Schwarzenegger's dramatic role Wade in Maggie mixed with some action.

He was absent for a better part of a decade as well, so he might have to completely rebuild his brand in for a new generation.

I would hate to think that Arnold is box office poison. I'm hoping for a renaissance for Arnold.

It is a little odd that 70 = death to you. I assume you are very young or have never had any older people in your life, which would be unfortunate.
