Default when you go buy a movie you like and you find other movies

I love it when that happens. I go to the store to search for a movie. I find it plus I end up finding another movie that I wasn't expecting to find. Does that happen to anyone else?

Or alternately, you don't find that movie but do manage to find a bunch of others you've been wanting to get a for a while.

That's what I love about shopping in B&M stores. Sure I can buy all I want online, but nothing beats the feeling of browsing through a store and finding some gems you've been wanting for a while but never pulled the trigger on. I'm much more likely to buy something if I see it in a store and it's right there in my hands and I can take it home RIGHT NOW.

I agree. As great as finding what you need online is, there's no better experience than going to the store and browsing around and finding the unexpected. Like yesterday I drove to bb to get green room and I found the first season of slasher. I picked it right away after reading the plot of th e show.

I love shopping online but yeah, there was definitely something cool about just browsing a bookstore or a video rental place and letting your mood take you where it will.

How do you mean? Like finding a film you wanted randomly or just finding something random and it interests you so you buy it?

I'm the latter, I tend to blind buy blu-rays when I go to the store to pick up a certain one.

I much prefer online shopping these days. I get to compare international releases to see which has better quality, extras (or any at all as some countries are barebones), ...

In-store purchases are so freaking expensive and never have the genre titles I'm looking for anyway.

More often that not I'll go to buy one movie and see a sale I didn't know about and clean up on older titles I had held off buying.

I really only go to one actual store that sells movies (Target) and I find myself trying to buy something but there isn't anything there that I don't have already or even remotely interests me. The Target I go to also has a pretty pathetic inventory on Blu's. Probably 75% DVD and nothing out of the ordinary. Probably good for my wallet though.

I think I've bought movies from a store twice in the last year. And in both of those cases, their media sections were so small and so mainstream I didn't see anything else I didn't have that I'd be interested in

I do have a local record store that stocks all Scream and Synapse releases religiously. I unfortunately just haven't wanted to buy any Scream releases in the last year or so besides the couple of recent ones I ordered through their store to get early. I guess I should be more careful about not ordering them through Amazon in the future, though.

That's why I'm glad that here in Canada HMV still exists stocking a wide variety of blu-ray releases including Criterions, Shout, Kino, Olive, etc. Not all of the releases mind you, at least in the smaller locations, but enough to make it worthwhile checking out on a regular basis.

Yes, that's how I unexpectedly found the 45th Anniversary edition of Dr. Strangelove.

Best Buy

Used to happen all the time. Browsing the massive DVD section of Best Buy or Media Play (remember them?), and walking out with a bag full of movies. Today, the media sections at B&M stores are just too small, and too mainstream, for it to happen often.
