Default Training Day...new transfer or just packaging?

Does anyone know if the new Training Day that came out last month is a new transfer, or just new packaging? Thanks.

Didnt hear anything about it so its most likely just new packaging. If there was a new transfer it would've been a big deal around here.

It may have been a subtle way to promote Brooklyn's Finest.

I think it's just the Academy Awards golden slip. The transfer's not too bad though, but doesn't it only have lossy 5.1?

If WB wouldn't do a new transfer for the Goodfellas Anniversary Edition I certainly wouldn't be expecting one for Training Day. Both were already very good though IMO.

I bought the triple feature set, which includes Training Day, John Q and The Pelican Brief. I just finished watching and I was wondering if anybody else that owns this experienced the minor issue I noticed while watching the movie? During the highway scene where Denzel asks Ethan to pull over and talks to him on the side of the road, I noticed a bright little white dot behind Denzel as he was speaking... Was that my copy of the movie only or did everyone else suffer from the same issue?

I am starting to wonder if Warner and Paramount are ever going to reissue their BDs from 2009 and earlier that have mediocre transfers and/or lossy audio.

Glad I wasn't the only one that had this issue. I wonder why it does that... Would love for them to release a Steelbook. Surprised they haven't have us one yet.

I wish all BD's released around this time and earlier would get a 'makeover', or at least the best sellers. New cover art, combo packs, slipcover, PQ/AQ upgrade if necessary, etc.

This would never happen, but I guess I can dream.

This looks to be out of print at Amazon. Does that mean a new release (hopefully with an AVC encode and lossless audio) is in the offing?

That's just the combo pack which wasn't even the first version of the release that's OOP, standard is still there and cheap. I got a gut feeling that if this was ever gonna be re-issued, it would've happened by now. Probably have to wait for 4K to get lossless audio here.

Fuqua is producing and almost directed a television show adaptation of it that is going to be airing soon. Doesn't seem out of the question that a new edition could appear to promote it.

Default Training Day...new transfer or just packaging?

True, but these days it's fairly standard for the digital copy version to supersede the older non-DC release. Having the later-released DC version go OOP first is unusual.
