Chris Tucker was a shooting star in 1997, dude did Jackie Brown, Fifth Element, and Money Talks. Kind of funny Brett Ratner and him nuked their careers only doing movies together for most of these years afterward. This is one of my longtime DVDs I pull out glad to have an upgrade. As a Charlie Sheen comedy I need The Chase to go along with this and maybe Hot Shots on Ultra HD to upgrade my Blu rays.

My favorite Chris Tucker movie, and his absolute best imo. I feel the Rush Hour movies showed his comedic flair greatly but he somewhat toned down what he could do due to sharing the screen with Jackie Chan (who has his own style of comic timing). This movie (along with Friday) truly shows his capabilities to the max!

I'm glad it's finally arriving on bluray so I'm getting it.

I feel Brett Ratner nuked his career by other means!

Likely a new master. Unless WAC specify something different, I think their standard workflow is 2K from the interpositive.

Probably the best action comedy made during the tail end of the genre's heyday. It skimps on neither action or laughs.

Was he not invited back for Next Friday? I always thought that film suffered bigtime from Smokey and Deebo not being part of it. Maybe he wanted too much money by then, cuz he was a HUGE name at the time. But why was he a huge name? Mostly from Friday. Mike Epps is hilarious as well, but just not the same as Tucker.
I'm 99% sure that happened before he went into his "no more cussing, I'm a religious nut now" phase. That killed anything left of a career he might've had.

Say what? Tucker himself was in a better action comedy just a year later.

Deebo ('Tiny' Lister Jr.) was in Next Friday. It's a solid sequel, whereas Friday After Next was an aberration and could have badly used Tucker.

His role was so small I forgot he even showed up. Agreed on Friday After Next, that was just bad from the get go.

I was a HUGE Friday fan back in the day, Ice Cube said himself Tucker wanted 20 million dollars to do a movie, it was never gonna happen getting him back. He made the two Friday sequels for modest budgets so they could actually get made and not just lose money. I think he did the same on a bunch of movies during that time like All About the Benjamins and another one he did with Epps. Agree on Mike Epps, he made both sequels unique, the 3rd is so funny it splits my sides when I still watch it, criminally underrated, you get Katt Willians and Terry Crews unfiltered.

I'm not a fan of Rush Hour. I find those films bland and lacking 'edge', for lack of a better term.

re:Tucker. I'm not sure it was just his asking fee that was the problem. He was hot back then, so I'm sure studios would have been prepared to pay him 15-20 million a film. He was just really picky/choosy with his projects when he should have struck while the iron was hot.

Chris Tucker either had bad management or no management at all, if it was just him brokering deals over his phone it wouldn't surprise me he could talk, sort of seemed like Rattner could get him the huge salary but no one else could so Tucker just ran with it, same way he talked himself into flying around with Bill Clinton and Bono doing who knows what, he was so busy he even forgot to pay his taxes like Wesley Snipes did
