I'm sure this has happened to others. Had my case out while I was watching Rear Window, accidently knocked over my bottle of water and got on the case. In the process, leaked into the back cover. I promptly tried to dry it out and placed it between pages of a heavy book hoping it would dry and not wrinkle too bad. But, yeah, dried and the back cover not looking so hot anymore.
As a huge Hitchcock fan this is one of my favorites. While not the end of the world...would be nice to have the cover art looking good. Has this happened to anyone? Any other solutions? Thought about looking online and trying to find the art to print out a copy. But I don't know how you would find that. I also have never printed my own Blu artwork for a case, so not sure on dimension and which paper to buy ( and where). Any tips would be appreciated ( other than not to leave food and water near my movies) ![]() |

Thats terrible.
I had that happen to me once. Not with a blu-ray but a dvd case. It might not have been that bad if i would have been drinking from a regular size cup. But it had to be a 64 ounce cup that day! lol. I cant remember wich dvd movie it was anymore But yeah the sleeve was ruined after that spill. I also learned a lesson about not keeping any drinks or food near my movies. I would check ebay, halfcom and amazon every once in a while for a used copy at the lowest price possible since i would only be after the art cover. Try this website.
http://www.freecovers.net/view/0/079...581/front.html Also you would have to download a program to print the actual size of the blu-ray cover artwork, and the program is called: Undercover 10, and it's free with no spyware. I use it to Undercover 10, and the copy will look just like the original, depending on the quality of ink that you're using. To get the best printing results, you must use photo paper, not the standard grade. http://www.emdb.eu/undercover10/ Last edited by slimdude; 05-19-2016 at 06:03 AM. |

Ahhh, that terrible slow-motion moment of "This is not happening! This is not happening!", as water spreads everywhere and you rush to ascertain how to stop/minimize the damage.
It always happened to me with those Big Gulp cups, probably because they stand so tall and there's more of an opportunity to accidently knock them over with an errant arm swing. As for a replacement cover, I'm sure there are plenty of fan forums and sites out there with cover scans. I'm also sure a good deal of them (like FreeCovers.net) will only allow you to download the high resolution version for a subscription fee, though. At that point, you have to weigh if it's worth the $10 to get the ability to download what may likely be the only cover you ever need. With enough searching, I'll bet you can find a high-res scan for free out there. You might even get motivated enough to design your own replacement. The eBay suggestion is a good one. I've seen people selling covers and cases because their discs ends up being inoperable. When it comes to actually printing the insert, you might want to weigh what it would cost to print it yourself vs having a big box store (like Staples) printing it for you. It might be easier and cheaper, along with better quality, to just let someone else do the print job. ETA: Good info(skinny?) from slimdude about that workaround program. Interesting! |

I have printed my own cover art on quite a a few occasions. In the worst case I couldn't find the cover art online in a high enough quality and I had to scan the existing torn cover art and repair it Lightroom. I then print with my Epson photo quality printer onto photo quality paper. The result is cover art that makes the original look like cheap garbage in comparison. The colors are far richer and more vivid than the original. If your cover art is too damaged for scanning then you could try search for the cover art by typing in the movie followed by Blu-Ray cover art into Google, then selecting images, then selecting search tools, then size, and then large. Keep in mind that I already own the required equipment and supplies to do what I suggested since I'm an avid photographer. If you don't own the hardware to do it yourself, know someone that can do it for you, or find an outside printing service to be too much, then it may not be worth trying to replace the cover art at all. It may make more sense to actually buy a new disc with new case. You could then sell the extra disc by itself on e-bay. Oh, and one last thing. Put away the empty disc case when you're done with it so you don't have to go through that again. Last edited by pmil; 05-19-2016 at 06:30 AM. |

Does this forum have a "hide thread" function ?
I love my Blu-rays like the next guy, buy treating spilled water like a national emergency and a grown man having to ask for advice what water does to paper really is a new nadir of banality even by the standards of this forum. |

Lol if you think that's bad, once my sink broke and sprayed water all over by blu-ray shelf! (They were fine). And once I knocked a glass of water into an external hard drive, and missed my PS3 and back of my tv by inches. Just get a new Rear Window, I rebuy things if the case is broken sometimes so it's the same diff.

There are more an more of these type of useless threads where people seem to compete about who can be the most anal about their Blu-rays. |
