Default Adding a title with a name change?

Hello all,

I was about to submit an entry for a blu ray edition that is not listed on the site, but I wanted to ask something before I made a mistake. When a foreign edition changes the title of a movie on the cover of its bluray release, should we submit it under the original name or under the new one?

I would guess under the original name, especially so people searching could find it, but I wanted to ask to be safe.

FYI, the only change is the title on the case, not within the movie itself.

Edit: Oh, and I'm not talking about translating the title into another language, I mean when they change the English title on the cover...

Hi,

Based on my experiences then you would enter the U.S. English name first, and then the name that it is released under in parentheses directly after on the same line (that makes it searchable).

A great example are the Blu-rays for "Matching Jack".

https://www.blu-ray.com/search/?quic...n=bluraymovies

There are 2 editions in the database, German and Italian. But both are listed with that format, under the name Matching Jack first.

And as always, try to start from the Master Movie ID aka Theatrical Entry, as that will help people to locate it too. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. I understand what you meant and I figured it out also. Your example though appears to be the translated names of that movie, which is not what I was referring to.

For example: my imported version of Deadline U.S.A., with Bogart, is translated into El Cuarto Poder. That looks similar to your example. BUT, the release I am referring to is The Next Karate Kid. My import version is NOT the title translated into the foreign language. It is listed on the cover in English as Karate Kid IV.

That make sense?

In any case, I made my submission as another country's edition of The Next Karate Kid.

Thanks, it does. I'm sorry I didn't quite get it the first time, but it sounds like you didn't wind up needing any help. I hope that your edition is approved soon.

I appreciated the effort to help regardless. Thanks!

Have a separate question for you if you return to this thread. Is there a way to submit the cover pics when you are submitting a new entry? Or do you need to wait until the submission is approved and send them afterwards?

I didn't see a way to upload both at the same time...
