Default Hard To Find (Rare) Slipcovers

I enjoy adding slipcovers to my movie collection. What are some of the hard to find or sought after U.S. slipcovers?

It's just that hard to find slipcover discussiion is more for the slipcover discussion thread. We really don't need another thread to discuss these slips when really, alot of slips that are considered hard to find are easy to get with effort.

Basically any slipcover that came with a BD that was released in 2010 or before is getting hard to find. The rarer slipcovers were exclusives to a particular store and/or event. There's also quite a few slipcovers that were not printed for their entire first pressing, Beetlejuice for example.

Rarity is completely subjective. I might not be able to find a single slip for something like, say, 13 Assassins, but someone out east might have 5 stores nearby with multiple copies each.

As a slipcover collecting community we are trying to get away from tagging things as rare since all that does is make greedy people sell those slips at exorbitant prices.

We haven't had a rarity list in a long while and it should stay that way.

You know what I've been thinking long and hard about this in the last few weeks.
With how all the prices have sky-rocketed in the last few months, maybe it's time
we have a price-guide, not a rarity list for slips, I'm tired of newbs being taken advantage of and people just posting crazy prices. And to be honest, we all are aware that greedy people have been raising prices regardless of having a rarity list or not. I think we need to help new ones to understand not the "rarity" of the slip, but to be familiar of what they should pay for one.

If someone posts a lenticular slip, that doesn't automagically make it worth $15 or $20 bucks. Some need to know that just because someone post a slip being rare, doesn't make it so. They need to know what factors they need to consider on price when making a purchase. things like that.

We all have overpaid for a slip, let's just know when or why to do so

It's a good idea in principal, but I think it hurts both the sellers who want to sell things at a price that people are willing to pay, AND it hurts the buyers who want to wait things out and buy slips for below market value. Setting a list of prices is also very subjective. I don't think something like that would be very effective.

And to all the people who are going to follow this up and say "al;akjsdf you sell slips for ridiculous prices lkasdflkasdfk we hate you al;skdjfa;sldjfsa roar I'm angry asdlk;jasd;flkasfd," don't waste your time.

I said price guide, not price list
Just give people an IDEA for what pay. Not tell them, 2 different things. Ultimately it's their choice
oh, and i'm not gonna do it....to much going on to take that task up

Yes, I have checked the master list and I have contributed to it. There are around fifteen or so slips that I would like to find.

Thank You, that is what I was looking for.

Hahaha, I misread that. Whoops. A guide makes a little more sense, just to give some general guidelines about what to spend and why.

I agree with what G:Box thinks about a "slip guide"; however what I will tell any newbies at buying slips, the ONLY slips that they shouldn't feel guilty paying over $10 for is something from 2009 or older, and EVEN THEN, there are only a handful.

Slips that have been released within the last 1-2yrs have NO business being sold for any amount over $6, REGARDLESS of which country it is from, PERIOD!

Even something like the Future Shop "Drive"? I think it's tough to have a broad sweeping rule like that.

Such a guide would mainly be for US wide releases. There are just too many slips in too many countries to do it internationally
