Default Why are Blu Ray owners being robbed of Atmos?

At this point, Atmos should be standard on most if not all Blu Ray releases, however this is just not the case, Deadpool, Star Wars the force awakens, etc no Atmos. I get they want to push UHD, but seriously, these studios need to get more Atmos out on Blu ray, how many UHD's are selling at this point??

The question is; How many Atmos equipped systems are selling?

Relatively small amount of Blu-ray buyers have an Atmos setup. Those that do are likely the HT enthusiasts, who also likely have upgraded to UHD, so those have Atmos tracks.

You might be surprised how many have the Atmos set up going, last years receivers now on close out prices came with it, on AVS there are a ton of people with Atmos set up's.

Only about 30-40% of U.S. households have anything beyond a basic soundbar. Just to give you some numbers.

I have a 7.1 system, but I have no intention of going to Atmos anytime soon. My wife would go nuts if I had that many speakers in the room.

I only have a modest DD/DTS 5.1 HTIB setup from Walmart bought many moons ago. I just don't have the extra income to upgrade all that equipment. So am I really being robbed of something I never had before?

Why are Blu Ray owners being robbed of Atmos?

The better question is "Why would anyone buy an Atmos system?" What's the point when there's only a handful of quality titles? The minimum cost to upgrade to Atmos is like a thousand dollars, right?

I did it as I needed a receiver that passed 4k and it came with the formats
Plus I already had height speakers

I asked this question on the digital boards if Atmos will ever become a feature.

I'm already disappointed with what I'm hearing so far.

I wish! I have a 7.1 system now. Four ceiling speakers will run me from $500 to $1000, and an 11 channel receiver to power my 7.1.4 system will add an additional $1700 to $2200. Total cost, about three grand to upgrade. So, without the available titles, I will wait until prices for the required hardware go down and inventory of ATMOS titles goes up.

Robbed? Why does a line out of Princess Bride seem most appropriate at this point!
