Default The PS4 Pro(aka Neo) Won't have UHD Playback

So, I can't be the only one here with this predicament. I want to get a player, and the Samsung player is very tempting, but I am impatiently waiting for E3 to see if the rumored PS4 Neo will play UHD Blu-rays. My first Blu-ray player was a PS3, and it worked very well for me over the course of the format, and I would really like to get a PS4 that can play UHD Blu-rays. If for nothing else, it should be supported extremely well and kept up to date by Sony, just like the PS3 was.

Anyone else here waiting impatiently for E3 to see if the PS4 Neo will support UHD Blu-rays?

EDIT(9/7/2016): It won't have UHD Playback.

Bust.

I'm waiting for a player at under $200, and have no use for a game machine.

I figured, if I'm going to get a UHD BD player, I'd want to get one that supports Dolby Vision. This is something I doubt the PS4 Neo or whatever will support.

Same boat. Would rather get a PS4. Already have 3 PS3s serving dual function past decade.

UHD Blu-ray Game Consoles shipped in 2013 but won't be firmware updated to support it till 2016. There is a BDA Licence for UHD Blu-ray game consoles and Sony has a License for a UHD Movie player/Game Console/test player and a License for a UHD Blu-ray PC application. There is a second paper naming both the XB1 and PS4 as UHD game consoles. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are labeled as HD.

Well I already have the Samsung player but if the new Ps4 does support UHD I'll be putting my old ps4 in the living room with the Samsung player and the new ps4 in my game room. Both set ups have 4K tvs so I will be set.

I'd like to get a uhd home theater in a box, preferably with atmos built in!
It just seems easier to me to do it that way than get it piecemeal.

Unless someone were to help guide me on getting it it done...

I think the PS4 Neo will support Ultra HD Blu-ray and based on the rumors it sounds like HDR support might be the main thing promoted for PS4 Neo games (which only need to have a resolution of 1080p).

The only thing that document states is that 4K versions of game consoles would have to limit power consumption when they output 4K resolution video. That document came out over a year ago and the only types of media it even lists are: DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and Streaming HD.

I'm waiting to see but if it does UHD blu-ray playback and supports HDR it will probably be my first player. Not long until e3 where I expect word on this.

I'm actually waiting to see if DTS release a layout of some sort. Also I am convinced the nits will be used in an arms race like contrast ratio was. Ideally I want my first Ultra HD TV to be Dolby Vision. That's all that's stopping me really. I already have a PS4 and I can't see neo adding much else that I would be interested in, but who knows, so I am more interest in what Xbox and Nintendo does.

Personally I think people will be sorely disappointed with Neo and Scorpio. I think the both of them are the next generation consoles PSV and Xbox 3.

Nintendo won't be showing the NX at E3.
They already said that.
We'll most likely see it around November /December in a direct.

I love Nintendo, but man, they make some of the worst decisions!

Nintendo has earned enough to last them for many decades. So they're in a position to experiment with different video game concepts.

Although Nintendo games don't appeal to me, I really appreciate how they try to come up with something innovative and different from mainstream consoles. And they found success with consoles like the Wii and DS. And then there's the Wii U which kind of dropped the ball, especially with the Wii Pad.

With that said, I am eager to see what Nintendo has in store. I think it's quite fair enough to say the Wii U won't last much longer.

No, I'm talking about how they go about releasing news or not even denying some of the rampant rumours!
They should have co e out when that crappy controller was shown and said it wasn't real.
Nintendo dowes more harm to themselves by remai ing quiet.

Im not sure if you saw how many people said they refuse to buuy the NX because of that fake controller, and most websites never went and posted retractions.

Nintendo not unveiling the NX at this E3, when it comes out in March 2017 is beyond ridiculous!

They NEED to showcase and show it off to everyone.
The NintendoDirects, while nice, are doing nothing more than just "Preaching to the Choir!"
