Default Working with a workaholic

No matter what work field you're in. You will have someone who are:
  • Are bossy/acting like they're the boss
  • First person to show up, last person to leave
  • Wants to be the best no matter how many hours they put in
  • Expects you to start working the second you walk in the door
  • Rather spend their days at work (including Saturday's) than being at home
  • Never takes a day off
  • Skips using their vacation time
  • Conversations or rants is always work related
  • Always trying to be involved in every single issue that doesn't relate to their job function acting like they know the solution
  • It's all about work work work work!!

Any of you have stories of a coworker that's lives and breathes work?

Not really. Everyone at my job seems to equally not want to be here. Sometimes people accuse me of this, bit with my position I have the care a bit more than I would like to. However I want to leave work just as much as everyone else. The way I act in work is just to get the damn job done and go home for the day.

I'm probably a bit of an overachiever, but thankfully I don't do much of what's in the OP much.

I can and do work extra sometimes--had a few 10+ hours days in the last couple of months, but I never feel an urge to withhold myself from leave or vacation time. Haven't had to work on a weekend in over a year. I try not to boast too much, I try not to overstep my boundaries, and I try not to push others around. As long as I get stuff done, I'm happy (and everybody else usually is too).

I have had one or two other coworkers who got on my nerves. I remember one dude liked to talk himself up a lot, but took shortcuts and didn't really push as hard as the rest of us. Other than that, never had a workaholic bother me much.

I happen to love my job very much as do the people I work with. I also happen to be in one of those fields where every day is literally something new, there is very little monotony and people in the community both revere/respect us and hate/blame us for everything that goes on in the world/community. That said, I leave work at work and home at home. But I will talk about my work to most anyone because my job is well everyone's business so to speak.

I used to be, but there was a lot of stuff not getting done or done half assed, so I just did it all. 60 hour weeks were the norm. Though a lot of the hours past 40 were remote, still working time when I was home.

After not getting rewarded for said work after a few years I probably average around 44 hours a week. We have a bigger staff now, but I also have a policy of not giving away my time for free. I have after hours work in my job but I don't over due it anymore.

I work so much that my post count dropped from like 35 to 14 a day which obviously makes me a workaholic. My day time job is keeping me away from Blu-ray.com. I need to find a new career.
