Blu-ray Samurai

Well "At Worlds End" arrived today from Amazon.com. First thing i notice on the cover it only states region A. So i check the other two films which I also imported in from amazon.com and they both had ABC. It turns out the last of the three films is region locked. This is a f**king pain.

I'm really sorry to hear that, why didn't you read the description which said it was region 1. I'm sure you can just return it though.

I ordered this months ago when there was no description on region. I wrongly assumed that it would be the same as the preivious two movies. That movie has not been in the cinemas in months so there was no need for region locking. Infact its out here in Ireland but since I had the other two from amazon.com i did not bother to cancel.

strange why they would do that, unless it is still out in theaters in another country somewhere.
blu-raystats.com does not list if it is region free or not so you are probably right. That sucks. |

It is a new release. The others were catalog releases. Not really strange, just a bummer.

remember the packaging on these already show 1080i which is wrong. the region coding may also be printed incorrectly.

And as Brandon B's cat pointed out, the other releases were not "new" releases, but "catalog" titles, while AWE is a new release and is more likely to still be playing in another country somewhere. Region encoding is their way of preventing loosing sales of their film while it is still in theaters cause people can just buy in on disc. |

I kinda thought @ some stage region coding would come back, In the UK I get robbed on BD prices so in the end I bought a player from the US ... the UK amazon has sellers from the US on there so I can get region A with cheaper postage than buying from .com Amazon... however the BOGOF are worth Having ... I bought 2 Bundled BD sets on BOGOF so 8 movies inc delivery for £35 ... fantastic .... UK amazon did a buy 2 get one free .. no way man

It is correct that the last movie is region coded. It follows my rought guidlines posted a while ago. New day and dates from Sony and Disney are regionised. All other releases from them are region free.
It looks like they think the bonus disc for PotC is a catalouge disc or that the region locking only applies to movies because the bonus disc is in fact region free... Last edited by Shin-Ra; 12-18-2007 at 05:32 PM. Reason: fixed typo |
