United Kingdom The Remains Of The Day - 7th October 2013

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing Remains Of The Day on the 7th October 2013:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Remains-Day-...587053&sr=1-73

This is not currently available to pre-order, but it shouldn't be too long until it is. No artwork at present so no confirmation whether this is a part of the Sony Classics Collection

Brilliant, heart-breaking film and - like Howard's End - much harder-edged than people think. It's not a chocolate box movie.

Great news!!!
One off from my most wanted Blurays!
I just hope it's a great transfer!
(i would prefer if it was a Criterion release though. Howards End was a great release!)
PLEASE BRING "MAURICE" TOO!

I cannot wait to find out exactly which bonus features from the Sony DVD release will end up being the ones that are NEEDLESSLY dropped from this upcoming Sony (Anniversary Edition?) Blu-ray release.

PQ was rather poor on DVD, so it would be good to have this on Blu. As its from Sony, I expect this to look pretty good on Blu.

This is now available to pre-order for £9.72. I have a feeling this will be in the Sony Classics range

Great news! Already pre-ordered. This is one of my all time favourites, with great performances from all. And also a great soundtrack by Richard Robbins. I hope they will keep the original cover for the release, though, but won't be picky even if they don't :-)

That is an ugly cover!

I'm not sure now that I even want to buy it or wait for a US release with a better cover..

I remember watching this with my uncle years ago and I really liked it. Tony gives an excellent performance!

first screenshots from a 1080p rip:

it seems fine. maybe a bit dark, but i guess it's how it was photographed originally.

by the way, why haven't they posted the final cover yet? this is out in 3 days!

I'm still shocked that Criterion released a porn film.

I second that. Absolutely hate that artwork. Though other European editions are getting the original cover art, I seriously doubt if Sony UK are going to change it as all of their recent releases have got similar ugly looking golden fonts over a white background. Why on earth would someone want to change something as beautiful and elegant as this?

Got this yesterday. Very nice transfer with the caveat that - like OLIVER!- it looks just a tiny bit sharpened to my eye and therefore not as film-like as I recall it.

Good to hear the transfer is decent, thanks... I had completely forgotten this was releasing, somehow thinking it was next month... so, just placed a very late pre-order with Amazon.

This is possibly my no.1 film... certainly top 3 depending on my mood. It is almost perfect in every way and I can't wait to see it in beautiful blu ray clarity.
