I screened the Signal One blu-ray of Hathaway's Kiss of Death with Victor Mature. The image quality is very good with nice black shadows and good grain. However the soundtrack has a high frequency distortion that sounds like a ringing buzz following the rise and fall of volume. It is very subtle, and it probably wouldn't be audible on most systems, but my speakers are capable of putting out frequencies up over the range of human hearing, and it was a little annoying. DVD Beaver didn't notice it. They reviewed the disc by bitrate and said the sound was good because it was PCM. But they really should have put a little bit of a high end rolloff on the sound when they were mastering it. The distortion is well above any frequency present on the soundtrack, so filtering iit out wouldn't have affected the sound quality at all.
It's good, but it could have been a little better. Last edited by BigNickUK; 05-30-2017 at 08:58 AM. |

And what did you think of the previous 18 films in this most unexpected franchise?
