Default Worst casting decision in film history...

Charlton Heston playing a Mexican cop in Touch of Evil.

Charlton Heston, one of the whitest white men in the history of white men, playing...a MEXICAN cop.

One of the greatest movies ever made imo and his performance is so egregiously off the mark from the character that there are moments when it almost ruins the film. On one had I can't really imagine Touch of Evil with any other actor at this point. On the other hand I find it to be one of the most horrific, borderline offensive, casting moves in Hollywood history.

Also Keanu Reeves in Much Ado About Nothing.

...or Keanu Reeves is just about anything other than Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates. The Psycho remake was a bad idea, but it never could have worked with him in the role anyway. Waaaaay too creepy and menacing.

Keanu Reeves as Jonathan Harker in Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Funny thing is, he would have been fine had they changed the character to make him an American so that he wouldn't have had to do a godawful phony British accent. I know they were claiming that they were trying to be faithful to the novel, but if they changed the entire core and essence of the book by turning Dracula into a romantic and sympathetic antihero, surely they could have allowed for such an inconsequential alteration.

The movie hasn't come out yet but Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic is pretty bad. A whiny, overhyped, twenty-something kid as a forty-something scientist. But then again, I personally feel The Fantastic Four is unfilmable.

As for the worst, it's hard to say. They are so many that you can't pick one.

Others I'd consider:

- Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern (Denzel Washington should have played this role). Hell, Ryan Reynolds in any comic book movie. He's the Ted McGinley of comic book movies.
- Tobey Maguire in Brothers (I felt Joaquin Phoenix would have been a better choice)
- Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man (my personal choice would have been Armie Hammer)
- Jason Schwartzman as the king of France in Marie Antoinette (Schwartzman is a quality actor but that casting felt like nepotism, but then again that whole movie was doomed with the blatant historical revisionism, Coppola's inability to tell stories about the class divide and whatnot)
- Michael Pitt as a Kurt Cobain-like musician in Last Days (he can't sing to save his life)
- Penn Badgley as Jeff Buckley in Greeting from Tim Buckley (a misguided biopic made worse by the CW-friendly casting)
- nearly everyone in Exodus: Gods and Kings
- nearly everyone in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

I could be here all day.

I'm not his biggest fan but thought he was good in The Matrix and very good in a small role in The Gift.

What's interesting to note is that a lot of people say he was too old for the part, but in reality the oldest actor to ever play Batman was Michael Keaton. Clooney was only 36 when he played the role but Keaton was 38 in Batman and 41 in Batman Returns.

Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's a very good movie otherwise.

The "kids" in Percy Jackson. Seriously, some of those apparently 13-year-olds looked like they had a wife and kids at home...

I was thinking John Wayne in The Conqueror but yeah, that one is hard to beat.

If you put enough reverence in the character of April O'Neil to outpace straight up racially tone deaf decisions like John Wayne as Genghis Kahn, or Fisher Stevens as Ben Jabituya...more power to ya. I just feel like I should tell you, you're wrong.

Point Break and Speed are awesome, yet to see John Wick but sounds like he did well here. Ill add Matrix. but Much Ado about Nothin is definitely horrendous.
