Criterion The Four Feathers (1939)

The Four Feathers Blu-ray

The Four Feathers Blu-ray Review

Did anybody order this one? It was supposed to have been released on October 11th. I've seen the Heath Ledger remake, and was thinking of making this my first Criterion purchase. Any idea on the quality? I heard it is a good movie.

No, but I can tell you that the remake with Heath Ledger was horrible.

Thanks. I must be in the minority who liked the Ledger version ok. I've heard the 1939 is much better though, so I might wind up blind buying it.

my copy should be here today. the caps on dvdbeaver look fantastic. I can't get enough 3 strip Technicolor bds. they are some of the best for sure.
imo this bd should be in everyone's collection right next to the other great films of 1939--the year many critics call the best year ever in cinema's history.
it's really hard to argue against that contention imo.

I remember going to the theater to see this and was expecting something epic like Zulu or The Patriot, but it turned out to be painstakingly boring.

or in my case, sleep inducing. So is the original a good blind buy then (the H. Ledger version put a damper on me seeing the original)

I've never seen the original. If it can be had for around $15 I might just blind buy it.

Thanks. I've always read that it was a great film. Just might have to blind buy it. I checked those pics out, and it looks pretty good for such an old film. The scenery looked great.

I never thought this movie would ever come out of blu-ray but when I saw it's review I jumped out of my seat.

Has anyone compared the PQ between this and the 2014 UK Network release?
