The newest in a continuing lineup of remastered classical SACDs which are exclusive to Tower Records in Japan, the first wave of the Tower Records Universal Vintage SACD Collection will be released on September 14th, 2016:
PROC-1973: Carlo Maria Giulini - Mahler: Symphony No. 9 / Schubert: Symphony No. 8, "Unfinished" (Chicago Symphony Orchestra, 1976-1978) (2 SACDs) PROC-1975: István Kertész - Brahms: The Four Symphonies / Haydn: Variations on a Theme (Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, 1964-1974) (3 SACDs) PROC-1978: Kirill Kondrashin - Rimsky-Korsakov:"Scheherazade" (Concertgebouw Orchestra, Austria, 1979-1980) The mastering notes for these three releases have different specifications. PROC-1973 comes from DG, and is said to be from a 192/24 remaster of the original analogue tape. The following two are from Decca, and seem much more vague. All releases will be Hybrid SACD discs, and as such, also reference the 44.1/16 conversion for the redbook (CD) layer. http://tower.jp/article/feature_item/2016/08/04/1101 |
