Hard to say if OW of SLP2 will win #1, competing mostly with the 2nd weekend of GKOM

Godzilla will be lucky to pull $50 million OW, won't be a threat for weekend 2. I love them, but monster/kaiju movies just don't set the box office on fire here. Unless Marvel pulls some last minute MCU surprise with Phoenix, and markets the hell out of it, Pets 2 will run away with number 1 next weekend.

Max, Gidget, and Snowball dominate the weekend with maybe $75 million plus.

Dark Phoenix, to it's credit, is selling pretty well over here in the premium formats, but that won't be enough to overcome the wave of families who've waited for that next big animated release for the kids.

I’m hoping Rocketman gets good word of mouth and has a strong second weekend.

The 2nd week drop for Godzilla will probably be ugly. Won't be surprised if its near 70%.

A sequel to a hugely popular Illumination film, could affect Godzilla more than Dark Phoenix. Secret Life of Pets 2. Affecting Godzilla. More than Dark Phoenix.

Ouch.

Its like Man of Steel taking on Monsters U and World War Z in its 2nd weekend. MOS fell like 65%.

I’ll watch Late Night when it hits Amazon Prime. I’ll definitely see SLP2 and Dark Phoenix in theaters, but I can’t say I’m excited about either. I don’t even remember what the last X-Men movie was about. This will be the first one I’ve seen in theaters since the original trilogy. I’ll have to rewatch all of the films to hype myself up for it.

The last X-men movie was the one guest starring Poe Dameron

Really, there's nothing that weekend that I'm pumped for either.
SLP2 is the only one I'll wind up seeing and probably play catch up with others I haven't had the chance to see right away.
